I can't believe this didn't make me lucid

Last night the first dream I had was about finding a new feature on my phone which I had never seen before, it provided special services which included a special alarm system which find out when i'm dreaming and then prompts the phone to speak to me into my dream telling me to become lucid and do regular reality checks...however this failed to even make me consider doing a reality check...

Have you been practicing actually being aware, and not just routinely doing RCs? Doing it unconsciously won't help much. If you have, well, you'll get better eventually.

Sometimes you're just not aware enough, through no fault of your own. Happens to me all the time. =)
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

how does one practice being more aware? so far i've just routinely been doing reality checks in real life, and also going to sleep thinking that i will have a LD. bear in mind i only started this stuff about 5 days ago when i found this site, so i'm sure theres a lot of practice i need to have first...

I do generally feel that I'm nowhere near aware enough in my dreams...this is not the first time that LDing has been the theme of a dream in which i still haven't been aware

Just randomly throughout the day, when you remember to, switch off "auto-pilot" where you're just doing normal things through the day and stop to just think about...reality/awareness/are you dreaming, etc.

Basically just looking around, doing an RC, seeing if your surroundings look dream-like... Look around at different things, and overall just observe more. Smell, hear, etcetera.

This also happened to me last night and it was so obvious i couldn't believe that i didn't become lucid. In the dream i found a feature on my phone which allowed me to teleport. I accepted it so much that i wouldn't use the teleport because it would cost to much! That just shows how much i accepted it and how real dreams are.

Sometimes lucidity might come when you least expect it. Back when I first began learning about it, I did RC's regularly, told myself before sleep that I'd become lucid, etc. etc - and had NO result for two months. Then one night - when I'd pretty much given up on it and didn't even do RC's for a couple of days - BAM! Dreamsign -> RC -> Positive! -> Lucidity!

Now, a year (and three days) later, I still don't have a fail-proof method of attaining lucidity. I use WBTB + apple juice + cookies + fresh air - and sometimes it works like a charm, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I overlook or ignore super-obvious dreamsigns (weird cellphone menus - a common dreamsign, it seems). Sometimes I just don't see any, because I'm just too busy with what's going on in the dream.

So I just calm down and wait I enjoy my non-lucid dreams. Some are really, REALLY fun. They can get really crazy, science-fiction-like crazy even. I have this recurring dream of being a high commander on some planet far, far away, trying to stop alien invasion/the end of the world/etc On the other hand, I try to enjoy the waking world around me. The world is so amazingly 3d when it's snowing.

Yea, the only few(and very short-5 seconds) moments in a dream where I am ludid happens randomly. I havne't been doing any RCs or repeating mantras at night, yet two nights ago I suddenly just realized "I'm dreaming!" The only thing that might of triggered it was, in my dream, over my 3D vision(your normal vision), a 2D image appeared. Looked like a suduku puzzle with an 8 in each corner. Then I realized I was dreaming, felt all tingly and excited, and woke up 5 seconds later because I forgot to remain calm and stabalize the dream...at least I became lucid. I didn't do an RC or anything, a suduku puzzle filled my vision(and I could see through it), and then I just knew I was dreaming.
