I can't believe this didn't make me lucid

Last night the first dream I had was about finding a new feature on my phone which I had never seen before, it provided special services which included a special alarm system which find out when i'm dreaming and then prompts the phone to speak to me into my dream telling me to become lucid and do regular reality checks...however this failed to even make me consider doing a reality check...

Have you been practicing actually being aware, and not just routinely doing RCs? Doing it unconsciously won't help much. If you have, well, you'll get better eventually.

Sometimes you're just not aware enough, through no fault of your own. Happens to me all the time. =)
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

how does one practice being more aware? so far i've just routinely been doing reality checks in real life, and also going to sleep thinking that i will have a LD. bear in mind i only started this stuff about 5 days ago when i found this site, so i'm sure theres a lot of practice i need to have first...

I do generally feel that I'm nowhere near aware enough in my dreams...this is not the first time that LDing has been the theme of a dream in which i still haven't been aware

Just randomly throughout the day, when you remember to, switch off "auto-pilot" where you're just doing normal things through the day and stop to just think about...reality/awareness/are you dreaming, etc.

Basically just looking around, doing an RC, seeing if your surroundings look dream-like... Look around at different things, and overall just observe more. Smell, hear, etcetera.
