      Lightbulb Help!, Whats right and whats wrong?

      Hello,

      Im a new member but I'm not really new to the forums, I've been reading articles on here for quite sometime. I just now registered because I need some help from someone experienced. P.S. Sorry if post is in wrong section.

      So here's my inquiry. I have read people saying that daytime napping or power napping is detrimental to REM sleep and some saying that more daytime napping will equate to less REM when its time for you to actually go to bed.

      I saw some people write that if your even *starve* your body of rest then the next time you go to bed you can enter SP almost instantaneously.

      SO. Bottom line, which is better for attaining lucidity, not necessarily through a WILD but just in general. Personally I am a big fan of daytime naps and recently have been ceasing that habit in the thought that I could be making my life more difficult when it comes to getting lucid.

      There is a very simple answer to this, since a lot of people are different.

      Do you have trouble sleeping at night? If so, then the naps may be playing a part in it. If not, you safe to nap as much as you want.

      In general though, naps can be a good time to have lucid dreams since your not going into a deep sleep. Naps normally don't have any real effect on your sleeping at night, unless your talking about a 3 hour nap or something like that. You can really judge it for yourself. If you havn't experienced any problems already, then chances are, there are none. Since they would take effect right away.

      Well for the most part naps dont really make it that much harder for me to sleep. But ill take my question further, Can napping be helpful for sleeping at night or just the fact that a nap is just another chance to dream?

      I love to nap and LD during naps (especially WILDs). I haven't saw any drop-off in LDs at night since I started napping during the day, so I'm sure you will be fine. Like Reegal said, a nap is just another chance to become lucid. As for the REM cycle, it is much easier to enter REM during a nap than at the start of sleep. It usually takes 2-4 hours of sleep before your body enters REM at night, while with naps you can enter directly into REM fairly quickly (which makes it great for WILDing). The only downside I can think of would be; If you nap during the day, your body may be more rested and not need as much sleep at night (causing you to wake up an hour or two early). I'm one of those people who can sleep as much as I want (15+ hours regularly if I have time ), so it doesn't bother me a bit.
