      Prospective Memory

hello! I'm doing the MILD excercise of prospective memory from Stephen Laberge's book.
Basically is having 4 objetives (everytime you look or do something) and when you found yourself doing this objetive, then reality check.
Doing this, you will have better prospective memory, that's, remembering to remember.

      I don't understand something.
The point of the excercise is to remember by association(I see the object, and then I remember) or because my mind is constantly saying "remember that if you see the object you should rc"....?

mmm, is okay if my mind is constantly making me remember that I should be aware of the objetives?
as you can see I'm totally confused.

      thanks
      bye!

Really the point is being able to remember to reality check. Don't expect to see these signs in the dream, just assume that you will remember to reality check when you are dreaming. The reality checking is based on these signs that are part of your everyday life, and some are so common that if you do remember to reality check all the time, you will likely be thinking about reality checking in general.

I didn't understand what you didn't understand too well, but I hope this answers your question anyway.

      oh thanks for the answer.
      but that's not my question.
my question is, for this excercise.
It's bad if I'm all the time remembering that I should RC?

Mmmmm, I can't say that's a bad thing to always be remembering it. For DILDs to work, you have to remember to RC due to an association. I think the MILDing, then, is made to work by remembering to RC out of habit, which is what you are doing. I know there's an association element to it, but MILDing is relying on your prospective memory to serve you well, which it appears to be doing.

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.
