      Problem about getting LDs.

Hi, i'm DarkCoffe64, and I have a problem about getting LDs.
I'm new about LDs, and these are my first times about getting one.
I have a night work that goes from 10:30pm to 4:00am (or sometimes, even later),
so it's hard for me to get a LD. Fortunately, I have days where I don't
work, so, I can try to have one, but the problem is that I can't stop thinking!
Every moment I try to not think about anything, I start think about music,
videogames or even something that I've never heard or read!
What can I do to not think?

Another problem that I have is that my nose is almost closed, so it's hard for
me to breath whit it. And, I don't know why, but if my ears are not covered,
I feel uncomfortable. Don't know why.

Last night I tried using the Lucid Dream Induction Mp3 that I got here:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=16697
I put the mp3 to loop it 2 times, and I stood still while earing it.
It was relaxating, but I could never get to sleep. I felt various time
the "wawe" that happens when you have SP, but I could never get to sleep.
I think I was too nervous or something.
After the mp3 stopped, I started to sleep. I woke up later at 10:23am,
and I tried again but nothing. Then, time later, I decided to wake up and play
      some games.

Aand... Any grammar errors are my bad. I'm italian, and I still studying english...

I think it's a bit of a stress matter for you, though not explicitly stress. It sounds like you're constantly going and need to find a way to relax yourself and clear your mind. Don't mean to plug my blog here, but you might find a few of these relaxation techniques, both the body ones and the mental ones, helpful. There's a couple links at the bottom regarding music meditation if you can relax to music as you described above.

If nothing works for you after you've tried a few of those, let me know. I recommend to try the 61-Point Relaxation method, which is good for the mind and body to get relaxed, try it just going up to point 31 for now.

      Finally someone replied!
Thanks, tonigh i'll try this technique. I've noticed something that maybe keeps me from getting into complete relax. My heartbeat goes always fast, and maybe it does distract me or something, I don't really know. Another thing that I have noticed, I've tried to sleep with my mouth closed and breath with my nose (even if it was a little hard) and, after some time, my mouth started to open by itself! It's because I'm abitued to sleep with my mouth open? And, another thing, because my heartbeat was fast, I tried thinking about some classic music, and it slowed down! Maybe I should try listening some classic music (or the lucid induction mp3) before or while I'm going to sleep?
Well, for now, tonigh I'll try that relaxation technique, and tomorrow I will post the result.
And, really thank you for replying. Most of the time, I get ignored and I was thinking that no one was going to help me try to have LDs... Thank you!

      P.S.
Another thing I would like to know, should I try to do this metod to attain lucidity? http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=42110
And, I've noticed that if I go to bed, like, 4:30am, I always wake up at 10:30am. Do you think I can try to do a WBTB by making my clock ring at, like, 9/9:30?

EDIT: I forgot to say, last night, I did a DJ with a notebook, and I've write what I would like to dream. I was thinking that this
would make my chances of having a LD more high. I even did a drawing of what I wanted to dream! If you want, I can post a scan...

If classical music or lucid induction/recall improvement mp3s work for you, by all means use them. I recommend listening to them before going to bed, not necessarily during sleep. Just something of a personal preference though, I haven't seen anything about whether or not they're bad to listen to while sleeping.

Hope that works! You're welcome for the reply - I try to run around DV looking into anything I might know enough about to help people out with LDing. I love doing it, and wish I could do it more often. I hope I can help plenty of people become lucid for themselves.

Well, I don't see anything wrong with that method, but it's very lengthy and looks like you're putting a lot of work into just learning how to use that technique - I think that you'd have better results with this topic on attaining lucidity. It's simple, as lucid induction methods ideally should be.

Yes, that sounds like a good time to WBTB, so long as you're getting between 4.5 and 7 hours sleep before you wake yourself. That'll put you in a field of REM phases to utilize for lucids and good dream recall.

Sure, if you want to post a scan that's cool with me, if you post it I'll check it out.

So, i put my clock to ring at 9/9:30, or I just sleep, and, when I wake up,
I do something like, go to the bathroom or listen to music or read my DJ?

Hey clyde... I I did everything you suggested to have a LD (meditation, music, ecc.), but I din't have one... But I'm not going to surrender to these failures!
I'll try night after night, and one day, I'll have lucid dreams every night!!!
Now, about last night... I programmed my digital clock to ring at 9, for trying to
do a WBTB, and, you know what happened? I woke up before it was going to
ring! I got out of bed, streched a little, and I began reading the tutorials at DV. I was all shakying, maybe because of my body that has just woke up...
After 5 minutes, I think, I shut my PC, I went to the bathroom, and I returned
back to bed. I tried laying on my back and waiting for the SP, but my mind was
full of random troughs! I tried doing the 61 points meditation, but I could not
focus so much, and I gave up after some time. The strange thing is that I tried
doing the exercise after finishing work and before going home, and I think it worked! My mind was clear... I could only hear my breath... But that lasted until I've got to bed...
After failing the meditation, I thinked about hearing again the mp3, i got relaxed,
and, after it ended, I tried getting to sleep. But I feeled hot! I feeled so much
hot, that I had to remove my pajamas to feel a little refreshned. Then, after some time, I sleeped again. And I woke up later, at... 2/3pm I think.

I think that I failed to to the meditation because my grandmother wakes up
at 8/9am, and she does a lot of things like washing plates, or dress, or other
things... And the noise she was doing distracted me from meditating... I think.

Do you think I should wear earplugs? So, after hearing the mp3, I would not
be distracted by the noise? Or I should have the mp3 to loop for some time?
Oh, and I was going to forgot! It seems that I get the SP everytime I hear the mp3... When I have the SP, first I feel all shaky, then I feel like floating...

Thats the spirit! Don't give up. I still am 3 weeks trying- no lucid dreams.
it just takes a matter of time and practice. One day, we will be looking back and thinking how easy it was. We just have to figure out the easiest way for our bodies to let user enter a lucid state.

      Try different methods,

Before I reply to your questions, DarkCoffe, I just want to say that while trying other methods of lucid dreaming as ClearView suggested isn't a bad thing, I think it would be counterproductive to jump around to other methods - if you do decide to try other methods, give each a valiant effort first.

Well, the meditation isn't a lucid induction method. I recommended those to clear your mind to prepare for induction methods, like the DILD or MILD or even the WILD (though you may want to try others besides the WILD to get yourself started).

If you'd like to try the DILD induction method, here's the topic to get started.
If you'd like to try the MILD induction method, here's the topic to get started.
I think earplugs are a great idea: I use them when I expect noise will be a problem and they've worked very good at keeping me focused. You can listen to the MP3 if you'd like, it's a matter of personal preference, but I don't think looping it is necessary, as it's just to relax you. Once you're relaxed, you don't need to continue to meditate or listen to music, as they won't get you lucid - induction methods like DILD or MILD, will.

And yes, that's exactly what SP can feel like. Notice I said that's what it CAN feel like - the experience can change, and is always different from person to person. SP is only really experienced when you're trying the WILD method (or a variation) or the DEILD method (or a variation), in case you were wondering what it was "used" for.

Keep trying, get started on one of those methods and good luck to you!

Hey guys, I just got back from work, and I have to say, I was very depressed,
because I was thinking that I would never have a LD, that maybe I should
give up... But then, I thinked that there's nothing that we can learn in 2-3 days
or minutes, even if it's the most simple thing in all the world. How many times
we called mom to rewind a movie to wacht it again? Or to read a story? Or...
Well, I could go on until the end of the day. Now, as Dave said:

So, there's no need to be in a hurry to learn how to have LD at command.
It's just a matter of practice. Practice makes perfect. So, we just need to
practice every day, until we'll be able to do it without even thinking about it!

Now, I'll go to bed, and I'll try do to a DILD. Since it's the easiest, it should
      work.

One day, We will have LD every time we want!!!

EDIT: Ehi Clyde, I din't noticed that you replied. Well, yeah, I just replied myself of what you
just said. I think... Well, thanks anyway.

Good Luck! I hope your dream goes well.. Still No lucid as of last night. It will amaze us when it happens though, I can tell you that.
Just keep going at it because its no good to do so much, and not get anywhere.

I think i will throw in a personal quote here:

"There is never a time when hard work was put in, and something is not achieved"
I know this from personal experience. I myself am a competitive swimmer, and when I don't swim fast, I tell myself to work harder, as eventually the success will come. Even when it doesn't come at first when you know it should, and you expect it, it will surprise you later and have a greater effect.

Yeah, never give up. It took me a while to start seeing progress, and I'm talking about upwards of two weeks. You'll start having them, you watch!

Hey guys, last night I din't have a LD, but I remenbered three dreams!
Here, in the first dream, I was a menber of the straw hats pirates of one piece.
We find an unfinished builden in the sea. We attract and start searching for
something, maybe treasures. I go at the first floor, and I see a strange building
in the orizon. I go down to report, but I could not find my friends anymore! I
start panicing, and, after going up and down for a few moments, I see a tital
wawe coming. I could think what to do, that the wawe grab me and I see
myself getting engulfed by the sea... Everything went black...
Then, I see myself at the beach of the strange building, fainted, and two shadowy figures
grab me and get me inside. Then, I see myself inside a suit like the one that
samus wear form metroid. Then, a voice says that I have to do a test, to see
if I'm worth of having that suit. I enter in a dark room, and I fight a sort of
blob monster that reminds me of this: http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/EVO/Up.../9-evo_009.jpg
After I kill it, I woke up.

Another dream that I remenbered, I was like in a loading screen, and,
some words apperared, and they said that I needed to kill "KillerBear" to advance
to the next level. Then, I was in a construction site, with an unfinished
building. I start searching for something, and then something appened, but I
don't remenber very well. I have to say, this dream reminds me of the game
"Illbleed", and, since I watched videos about the game lately, I think I had
      this dream because of that...

The last dream was just me, being Taz the tasmanian devil, going around, scaring people...

Before going to bed, I played the game that is recommended in this thread...
      http://dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=93760

Today, I got out with my friend Marco for a walk, and I talked about LD, and
how I would like to have them... He said that he has pretty much one every
night... He said that, one night, he dreamed about being shaymin (pokemons),
and that he transformed into the flying version of shaymin, and started flying
in the sky... Or, another one, is that he was Kratos of God of War, and was
fighting enemies that were trying to kill him... And, he said that, before
having those dreams, he watched the pokemon movie with Shaymin, or he
played Gof of War... I think this is more related to dream control?

Oh, and tonigh I don't work, so, I can go to sleep when I want,
so, if you guys have any tips about LD... But I would like to have tips about relaxing.
It's seems very hard dor me to relax and clean my mind...
Maybe if I put my brain in the washing machine...

XD In the washing machine? Nah, just look over these again and do some of the mental relaxation techniques at the bottom half of the post. I know those work well, just learn to clear out your mind and think only of knowing when you're dreaming, and that you'll have a lucid dream. Let that be the only thought that runs through your head as you fall asleep, and you'll be that much closer to LDing.

Congrats on three recalled dreams! You're on the right track!

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.

      Hey Clyde,

I'm not near the verge of giving up, quite the contrary, I believe that I may have one tonight. Every time I do fail, it gives me an idea what to do better next time. So far I've been getting closer every night, other than the few that I fall asleep

Great Job on the recall Coffe! You are definitely on the right track. When I started, I was barely remembering what I had for dinner that night before. Looks like you got great potential for LD'ing at will.

      Good luck,

Hi, guys! Last night, I din't want to try have a LD dream or what, since I had
free time, I wanted to play videogames, then, after some hours, I decided to
go to sleep. I still had a dream, and I remenber it, but, I don't know about post
it or not... Oh, who cares, here I go!

So, my dream started with the simpson family winning a castle in scotland.
They go there for a night, and they find that the castle can fly in the air!
Don't tell me why, but it can. So, they return to springfield with the castle, and
they start giving depliants about a party in the castle. Lisa invites me in,
without having to pay the quote for going in, so, I make my way in the castle.
Inside it, it was like a giant shop, with all sort of stuff! While I explore the castle,
a voice says that after 5 minutes, there will be a dance contest in the main hall.
Even that I was not interested too much at dancing, I go there anyway to see how
it was. The main hall was like the one in Final Fantasy VIII:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlfH3r780So
Since I was not interested at dancing, I go out in the balcony to see the sky.
It was full of stars. Beatiful. Then, I hear a voice saying "You don't dance?"
I watch at my back and I see lisa. "No, since I have no one to dance with" I
reply to her. Then, she get's near me and says "The sky is beatiful tonigh, isn't it?"
"that was I just thinked." Now, I watch down to see where we are, and I see
that we are on a big forest with a lake near by. Then, Lisa ask "Would you like to dance with me?"
At first I was thinking about saying no, but then, I said yes. It was a little funny,
since I am tall, and she was small to me, so, I was like crawling in the floor...
Then, the castle stops moving. Everyone fall, and wonder what happened.
The castle starts moving upwards, more and more, untils we see something
like a red nebulous. It was the most... Fantastic thing that I could ever see.
Then, an explosion! A tower of the castle start falling down! "watch out!"
I shout to lisa while I grab her. The tower fall in the balcony, drestroying it.
I was all sweating, and more explosion! The castle start falling in the forest!
Lisa get's reunited with her family, but marge shout's "Maggie! Where is my little Maggie?!"
Don't nearly know what to do, Lisa ask me if could help her find her sister. I agree.
Whe where going inside the castle, that a car falls from the second floor!
"Get away!!!" I push lisa inside, and the car fall on me! Then, everything went black...
Until I push the car off me! Lisa watch me with a shocked face! A car did just
fall on me, but it din't to too much! Then, we continue our search for Maggie.
Then, we find her in the toy zone. As I grab her, I see something that makes
me go OoO I see an articolated action figure of Kirby! I colud not believe what
I was seeing, but then, Lisa wakes me up from my trance. So, I grab lisa with
my other arm, and I grab the action figure with my teeth. I start running the
fastet I could to the exit, but then, my beloved action figure fall from my mouth!
As I stop to get it again, a piece of the castle falls and crush it! I go "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
More explosion makes me forget about the action figure and I continue running.
A series of explosion makes me go flying while I "uooOOOOOOOOOO!!!" and I
      woke up.

      Now, I don't smoke. I don't take drugs. I don't drink alcohol. I'm a calm person...
How the heck did I have a dream like this??? I know that I watch a new episode
of the simpson every day at 8:00pm, but... Org, I don't know...

Hola, I just got back from work. Last night I din't remenbered any dream, but
I think it was natural, since I've even tried to have a LD or what. It was a free
day, I had a new game... Guess what. Well, now I'm going to bed and I'll try
again the 61 meditation point. I hope that I'll do it well. (But I'm still thinking that the washing machine would do it better)
Well, wish me luck. I hope that, if I have a LD tonigh, I would dream to meet Nights... She's such a mysteryous character...
I would like to know more about her...
      Well, goodnight, see you tomorrow!

It took me about a month to have a 2 second lucid dream. Remember DON'T give up. Confidence is really important, so each night just say in your mind that you WILL have an LD and you have no doubts. If you don't have one that night don't be bummed out.

A lot of people don't understand this and often give up. This a great way to spark confidence. Thumbs up - Mancon.
Darkcofee, as mancon stated, don't get discouraged. I still haven't had my lucid dream. I am working harder and harder towards it every day though. One important thing that I want to tell you about is this. After each failed attempt, analyze what you did. This way, you process what went wrong, and you can fix those mistakes next time. The great thing about this method, is eventually, you will have zero mistakes. Which also means success

      Keep Going!
