      Does this count?

So, a couple days ago, I donated blood for the first time. Didn't go so well, and I ended up passing out. While I was passed out, my mind was working something like a dream, and in it, I remember asking myself something along the lines of "Why am I asleep? I don't remember falling asleep... Is this a dream? Yep. It must be a dream." And there was some other pretty crazy stuff going on during that too, somewhat involving whatever song it was on the radio (which I believe was like... disco... lol) I remember being somewhat in control of this dreamlike state, even though it only lasted for about a minute....

Soooo, do lack-of-blood induced hallucinations count as lucid dreams?

I'd say why not? As long as you were not awake, but you were consious of your experience, I'd say that it was a lucid dream. It may not have been attained by going to sleep in the traditional sense, but you were still unconsious... yes.

      Thanks...I rather like both pics!
And I had a similar experience recently. I was getting some bloodwork done for a physical and I passed out. What is wierd though is that I usually don't EVER pass out (and I get my blood drawn monthly), and when I did pass out, I had a 15-ish minute "episode" in my head...even though I was probably only out for 30 seconds... All in all, it resulted in a strange warping of my space-time experience. It was cool but wierd...sadly I never became lucid

Your dream during vasovagal syncope counts....I never thought I'd use those words here though.

Yeah that's kinda how mine felt, it felt like I'd been asleep for much longer than I really had been. Then when they finally woke me up (and I regained my hearing... thaaaat was freaky.) I had to ask how long I was out for cause if felt like I'd been out forever. lol

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasovagal_episode

There are a number of different syncope syndromes which all fall under the umbrella of vasovagal syncope. The common element among these conditions is the central mechanism leading to loss of consciousness. The differences among them are in the factors that trigger this mechanism.

      Triggers

      Standing up very quickly
      Stress
Any painful or unpleasant stimuli, such as:
      Venepuncture
      Experiencing intense pain
Experiencing medical procedures with local anesthesia
Giving or receiving a needle immunization
      Watching someone give blood
      Watching someone experience pain
      Watching or experiencing medical procedures
      Sight of blood

Ahh I see. I think I had similar episodes later on that day by standing up too quickly. Not passing out, really, but kinda seeing stuff.

btw I'm totally not bothered by the sight of blood or even having my blood taken, just not used to being short one whole pint of blood. I actually watched the tube fill up the whole time.... woulda watched the bag fill up but it was like under the chair... I'm so creepy haha.

I agree, this would qualify to me as a dream, and a lucid dream at that.

Also, cheers for donating blood! I got a 1-Gallon pin a couple weeks ago for giving 8 pints. I've never had a problem with so much as being dizzy let alone fainting from giving blood, but the always tell me (and I always do as told) to take things slow, sit up for a bit before walking around, drink lots and eat cookies and stuff.

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.

Yeahh I ended up standing up too fast after it. I was totally fine while laying down though. I'll definitely make sure to take it easy next time.
