      Questions about Shared Dreaming

First and foremost I want to say that I am in no means trying to start a real serious debate with this thread. I simply want calm discussion between fellow lucid dreamers.

Personally I find myself to be skeptical of the idea of shared dreaming in general and here are a few questions I have for those who believe in it.

      1. If it's possible to share dreams, does that mean that if I see a friend in a dream, that he will be having the same dream? If not, how do you differentiate between people who are real dreamers and just figments of your imagination (which I believe is what all DC's are)

      2. Do both you and the other person have to be lucid to share a dream?

      3. Wouldn't it hypothetically be possible to share a dream with someone I've never seen, and then accurately describe that person physically with no previous knowledge?

Any feedback on these questions to fuel a discussion would be great. Let's just not get too angry with this thread, i am not intending to offend or insult any one else or there beliefs. i'm just putting mine out there.

As for what I believe about this topic, I believe that dreaming is a neurological function that is a phenomena of sleep. The reason you experience these hallucinations so vividly is because your visual and sensory cortexes are in your brain and dont' rely on external stimulus to create images or sensations. The brain is way more complex than people give it credit for. Any other ideas about this?
The Key is to combine your waking rational abilities with the infinite possibilities of your dreams, because if you can do that, you can do anything.

      1. Not always, It could be another dreamer, or it could be a DC. real people have an "energy" about them, if you share a dream with someone, you will know, then from there you just have to see if the other person remembered the dream.

      2. No, both parties can be non-lucid, or one person can be lucid, it doesn't matter.

      3. yes, but appearances are funny in the dream plane, just because someone looks one way in the dream world doesn't mean they will look the same in waking life.

I've had a dream, possibly a shared one, on wich I am not sure if this was the real case.

This person had a totally random appearance, I do not remember the details from the very few seconds he was there.

      So here's the story:

I gain lucidity at a wooden boat docking, very very long so I didn't see the coast. I walked further, to hear a character talking to himself:

      Am I dreaming?

I stood shocked, then remembered about shared dreams. I stepped on the water, wich seemed to have a solid, yet invisible surface on it, I lied above the water then levitated closer to the character as I said:

If you are not dreaming, then how am I floating above water?

The character in question turned his attention span to me, thinking for a while. It was not long before he bursted into exitement. It wasn't long till he disapeared, too, leaving a ghostly voice behind.

After this turn of event, I just merely decided to fish with my feet. It was fun tickles while it lasted, till a big fish bit my whole leg, waking me up.

I did somehow feel compelled to him, curious. However the other person was not someone I met in the waking life, so I cannot confirm this.

what it really comes down to is experience, after a few encounters with other dreamers, you start to be able to tell the difference if you are looking for it.
