Question Inability to keep eyes shut, possible cause of the inability to reach sleep paralysis?

Well, First off, my main goal is to reach sleep paralysis. I have been trying to reach this goal for almost six months now, and so far, no luck. I will provide links to several of the tutorials, and guides I have tried, along with my ideas as to why I can never seem to reach it. My hope is that if outsiders look at the situation, the problem may be more apparent to them, than it is to me."because I sure will never figure it out on my own..."

The one thing I always seemed to notice, and it's hard not to. Is that while trying to relax, my eyes will sometimes usually, just barely open enough for light to come through, or for me to just barely see my room. This I think is presenting a problem to my mind while trying to relax. Also I often wounder if I'm moving my eyes and just not realizing it. But thats just my theory.

I also hear in these tutorials that breathing is a rather large factor. So I tend to try to make my breaths as they say they should be "for example 5 second breaths with a short pause between" But often find my breaths changing, usually instead of them being slow and deep. There slow and shallow, or at least it seems shallow...

I also normally always attempt this while laying on my back "I had read somewhere that it was supposed to make sleep paralysis easier......" The problem with this is that I find my jaw always trying to move, which is distracting and brings my attention back to my body "I think it's supposed to be on something besides my body but correct me if I'm wrong."

Usually my average attempt time is about 30 - 45 min of me laying there trying to relax. It usually always ends in one of three ways. Me eventually just giving up, rolling over, and going to sleep. Me falling asleep unexpectedly without being lucid. Or I just get annoyed, get all angry and such, and end up getting upset for about 20min. >___> "I try not to do that last part but it can happen"

I often listen to some sort of binaural beat, or brainwave entertainment to try to make it easier. I usually listen to a theta wave binaural beat thats set to loop on my phone with my ear buds.

      Things I've tried.

Today I just tried the "99 Breaths to Relief a Wandering Mind" I seemed to get no real success from it. It did however, lead to relaxasion which was constantly interrupted by my silly eyes.

I also tried WBTB, and common WILD techniques hoping to induce it that way.

Usually my results vary, to just feeling really relaxed, to even going in and out of a dream state, and being awake. But I never seem to get paralysis. I commonly practice meditation, so I can quiet and relax my mind fairly well. Sometimes, I get tingly sensations in my hands, but thats about it. Very very rarely do I ever see anything, like hypnotic images. But then again I'm usually too busy flashing in and out of one second dreams.

I've even gone to the point of wearing industrial ear muffs to block out outside noise.

I'm completely open for ideas here, because it would seem none of the ideas I had in the last six months has helped anything, and I'm willing to consider any new approaches to anything or any solution to any problem that may exist.

I really have a huge ammount of motivation to be able to do this, so when I can't it tends to eat at me a bit xD So I hope to soon get past this barrier, as soon as possible xD

I look forward to any help offered

      :EDIT:

Oh and if you see ANYTHING that I'm doing that you feel may be incorrect, TELL ME xD I need to know these things and am willing to listen

I have never attempted a WILD before, so I can't be of much help to you. However, I can still give you a little advice.

I've read that you can try this in any position that is comfortable to you. However, I believe it is suggested that you try this while lying on your back because you can lie in this position longer without feeling the urge to turn around (according to personal experience).

The following advice won't help you to reach sleep paralysis, but I still feel like I should tell you this.

I have something similar to this. When I go to sleep, my right eye tends to open up slightly. I never really paid much attention to this, until the vision in my right eye got a little blurred and I had my eyes checked by an optician. He told me that my right eye doesn't completely close while I'm asleep, causing it to slowly dry out during the night. Now I'm not saying that I think you have this as well - the problem you described may very well be common when attempting to reach sleep paralysis. I just want to let you know that if you notice any decrease in your vision, have your eyes checked, just to be sure. You just might have the same condition as I have, and it's best to catch it before it does any permanent damage.

That actually did help! I usually lay on my back just because thats the way I've done it for a while. I just seem to have troubles relaxing in other positions. I have heard that if you manage to ignore feeling the urge to turn around that that would lead to Sleep Paralysis. I never really ever had that feeling though. >_> *sigh*

Thanks for the eye info! I actually have been planning an eye exam due to some small issues I've noticed.
