You do not breath, your body does it automatically.

Focusing on the breath gets you to observe your body, as if it is seperate from you.
this is a bit off-topic, so ill make it short...all im saying is removing yourself from your body will not help.

the meditative practice of ohm is a way to become more sensitive to your body energy. This is the exact opposite of separating the mind and body.
Dissociation would probably serve as a better term for what you are talking about.

I'm not sure how that's relevant, but I got mostly lost a few posts back.

Clarifying tip for electrical engineers: google the ohm symbol, its not what you expect.

Last year my dad told me that he had met a burned out stoner kind of guy who tried to tell him that he had a formula for everything, which he called awareness or something like that. The man's formula was 3 times infinity squared times infinity squared. My dad tried to tell him that this could be simplified to infinity to the fourth, and multiplying a power of infinity by a scalar doesn't do anything. I suggested to my dad to think of two x-squared's as representing two opposite faces of a cube, and three of those pairs as representing the whole cube. Replace x with infinity and it encompasses everything.

According to WakingNomad, the dream plane encompasses all possible and impossible things, or something to that effect, as I understood him. According to my intuition, the astral realm is some kind of aether of virtual/unreal worlds, and by being aware of those some spirit intelligences are able to make predictions about our worlds, which is where destinies and prophetic intuitions come from. 3D symbolizes three dimensions, and 8 is a sideways infinity. In Chinese 8 is also 'ba', pronounced like 'pa' which means father (even in Chinese), in this context the unmanifest father of the physical world. I'm just pulling this stuff out of my ass as I type. My point is that if you think like a muse, every sound or image has many metaphorically related meanings packed into it, and they're not just contrived. (In that regard I don't agree that the sound ohm isn't meant to have meaning. It may not be intended to have meaning for one person, but that doesn't hold true for everybody else.) You don't have to guess what meanings are intended and which aren't, you just take them all together and see if you learn anything. And the richness of meaning, or the poverty of it, if you're like us trying to wring meaning out of very little, isn't random. It is in some sense understood by the subconscious source of the sound or image. And all of these people, even including the stoner Tool frontman and my two year old son spelling 'mama' with two m's (sideways 3's!) and 'papa' with two 8's, are all by some torturous path connected through this source of inspiration.

While I'm at it, just to see if I can give some 'J'-type level headed reader an aneurysm....Before reading these posts I was just thinking again about how astral matter might be more active than physical matter not in the sense of kinetic energy, which is relative, but more in the sense of valence reactivity. And I added a new thought, that although velocity is relative, angular velocity is absolute, so astral activity might be more akin to that. One of the most important reactive elements is of course....Oxygen! And the common symbol for angular velocity is lower case omega, which looks like an upside down 'm' (for mama!) and even more like a sideways 3. And capital omega is the 'ohm' symbol familiar to engineers.

Sounds like it would form the energy path of a gyroscope...and I think it is amazing

and btw...your numerology is going to find its root in the hexagon...the shape of the carbon molecule... ....

      also....fibonacci sequence....

k....this is so off-topic...sorry...but its so awesome!!

Could start a thread in f96 on this. It seems to me to be the central issue of confusion in all meditative practice, whether we're trying to transform the world by becoming more fully engaged with it, or to free ourselves by recognizing the world as an illusion and leaving it behind. I don't think its a matter of misinterpreting traditional teachings, I think the teachings themselves are confused about this.

      Tempered exuberance is the key.

      Hi everyone. good poetry.
      Chipertainment, was yours a Hikue?

I have finally completed the combined challenge. It was last night during my 6th LD since I issued the challange, and I guess 10 days. Here is the link, 08/28/12 DILD Pyramid Completed - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

I assume this means, that if I had been working with someone else, trying to share a dream, it would have taken 10 days for me to reach the agreed upon place and act in the agreed upon manner. So, if they had the same level of skill, maybe a 1 in ten chance each to fufill the criteria, and we both would have to (just assuming) be in that state at the same time. I am simplifiying the statistics, lets say a 1 in 100 chance that we would both meet the criteria at the same time. Of course I just worked 74 hours in 7 days, with only 1 day off. maybe in a setting where the dreamers did not have the stress of getting up and working hard, the success rate would go up.
