      How does it work?

So, in the process of working on a degree I have now I have taken classes on different courses in psychology including general psychology. In that class we learned a good little bit about dreams and how our dreaming deals with our subconscious and things we're worried about etc. The thing that gets me though is what about future dreams? I've had them off and on since high school. They're really freaky. Mostly it's just every day life things for me. I remember the first one I had as if I just had it earlier this morning. In the dream I was my spirit self. I was at this camp that I've known of since I was young but never went because I was a shy kid and didn't feel comfortable going. I knew what the place looked like in general through pictures. In the dream I was my spirit self, as I mentioned, and I was floating over the dining hall. I saw people in line to get food. My spirit self stopped at this boy who I didn't know. Never seen before. After I got a good look at the boy the dream stopped.

A week later I saw the boy. Turned out he was a cousin of some people I knew and he went to the camp with the cousin's and he became friends with some people and he was saying hi to them. It was really freaky to me because I was raised to not believe in such things. The thing I don't get is how does this work? Is it really our spirits leaving our bodies as it feels like? Is it our memories remembering something that has already happened in a different time? Whenever I have one of these dreams later when it really happens I'll have this dejavu like feeling and something will "snap" in my brain and I'll go "oh!" and will remember the dream and what I just did happened just like in the dream.

For the past couple of yrs now off and on I've also been seeing myself with two different men. One man I don't dream about anymore but the second man I still dream about and I see myself romantically involved with him.

Sometimes it's hard to wrap my brain around how it all works. All I know to do is keep track of these dreams and when they happen (if they do and so far they all have) I can go back and say "oh I remember writing that down." What do you think? Have you experienced this too?

Well, all those of us, who have experienced something we think was precognition in a dream, can do is to speculate how it happens, since nobody knows. One possibility is that time is not as linear as we think, another for those of us who believe in God is that we at times get glimpses of God's thoughts showing us things that have not happened yet, another option is telepathy of sort for some precog dreams where someone else already knows what is going to happen.

For an example of the last piece, one of the two of my dreams that I am thinking of as precognitive I dreamed that I was at a job interview being asked about breast feeding. I woke up thinking how awkward and weird to have that discussion in an office setting. Then I went into work and saw an email about my work inviting employees to look at a seminar about the advantages of breast feeding! Now I had not dreamed of breastfeeding at all in years and my work had never before included any mention of it. This dream could have been due to some weird telepathy for example because even though it was about the near future, but the person who sent that email to everyone presumably already knew that she was going to send it out, and had prepared for it. Now I then searched the intranet site and my prior days emails very carefully for any mention of this because I at first suspected that surely I must have seen this mentioned before and had subconsciously noticed it, but as far as I could tell there had been no prior mention of this, so I could not come up with a rational explanation. And it was too weird for me to just dismiss as a coincidence.
You may say I'm a dreamer.

Very interesting about the Email situation. Most of the time my experiences are every day stuff like that too. I usually get this dejavu like feeling and then a "snap" in my brain and it's like "oh!" and I'll remember the dream I had and things happened just like in the dream. Sometimes, it takes a while before it will happen in real life. I never know when it does. So I find it interesting how in that situation of yours it happened so quickly.

I don't subscribe to experiencing something that hasn't happen yet.(Future) However I really like the word precognitive. Pre = Before. Cognitive = Thought. *A before thought* So how many before thoughts are there (realities) Surely each reality has is on subjective grasp on Time. 1 reality might say its 2013 the next might say its 3013 etc etc. Their both right. When you are in a higher state of consciousness, it not only creates the life of whatever you want, but also on whom ever you want". -LifeBlissFoundation

I don't remember the details, but you can always google this study. I think I saw this on the show "Through the Wormhole." Anyway, they were able to take two cells from the same heart--I think they took one to the west coast, the other to the east coast--and they were able to communicate with eachother across the united states!!!

You may be a psych major, and believe in science, but science does not necessarily have to rule out the paranormal. Our own military has used remote viewing, before supposedly quitting their funding/research of the project (like I believe they quit what was supposed to be a successful endeavor). While I can't say *how* such stuff is possible, I certainly believe it is, and I think science is too close minded about the paranormal in general.

My theory would simply be that our minds are powerful in ways we don't yet realize--and perhaps never truly will. I also believe in God, and I believe he gave us many gifts. Just because God grants us an ability doesn't mean there isn't an explanation as to how we have it, though. Perhaps, as someone else has said, precognition is possible simply because some are able to glimpse time in a non-linear fashion.
