Using LD for past life regression?

I post this in Deep Dreaming already so I am going to keep this short. Has anyone used or know of a reliable technique for using lucid dreaming to access past life memories? I got some good ideas already but want to see what an wider group of people have to offer.

I'm sure you heard of the Akashic Records, they are the legendary records that people claim to have read. The Akashic Records are said to contain every thought in the universe since time began. You could probably ask it to show you your past life's memories. The best way to access the records is through deep states of meditation, trance, visualization, or out of body travel. I myself believe they exist but there are a lot of people who do not. Good luck and happy dreams!

^^ WakingNomad might have something there... If you can establish a solid "going back in time" metaphor in your LD, you might very well find yourself among past-life memories, if they are accessible or exist at all. I'm not a fan of past lives or reincarnation, but the search for them might prove valuable in itself.

My opinion is that there are no reliable techniques. If someone is exactly "you", they have your life. If they lived in different circumstances, they are not exactly you. You still might be able to get some actual information about them if they are a lot like you. But that story will tend to be distorted and altered by the differences between who they were and who you are. I think we inherit memories and karma from people who lived before, and in a very real sense we are them. But this relationship isn't exclusive. Just as your brothers and sisters can inherit physical traits from your parents even if you do, multiple people have common ancestors in other more 'spiritual' ways also.

Thanks TheseHands for reviving a month old unanswered post. JK. Really I've kind of given up on actually getting some past life stuff. It seems once in awhile my dreamy-mystical side overrides my sensible-practical side. It's fun to contemplate these things, but even if I were successful, I would always wonder if my subconscious made it all up or gathered information that I was unaware of during my waking hours. Still, I like the idea of time travel and plan to try that when I get a long and stable enough LD. It's funny, when I was looking into this I was having dreams with either "old western" or "50's era" elements. I may start with one of those time periods and see what I find.

Oh, I'm sorry I was looking at forum threads that were interesting. Yours had no replies and it made me start thinking too. I had some thoughts on what the subconscious as well, I guess I'll start a thread soon. I'll be more careful to check dates now. Good luck on your experiment!
