Thumbs up Out of Body Experience - Experience + Good or Bad

Hello, I have went around and done research on this subject before im writing this.

I had three near experience with the out of body experience.

      1. I was sleeping with my arm over my eyes, I felt a vibration begin to build over my head, my body couldn't move. It was overpowering me and I was really confused, after nearly 10 seconds of trying to move, I moved and I was scared and confused. (Happened 4 months ago, in the basement master bedroom)

      2. I was sleeping and I felt something similar, I did not pay too much attention to it. It started building up very fast, again I could no longer move. This time I felt like i was flying straight up very slowly towards the ceiling. As I opened my eyes, I saw a dark figure 1 meter away from my feet. It was as tall as me (according to the internet it was me?). This completely scared me, I woke up within 3 seconds, and ran upstairs terrified and confused beyond words. I should've done research at this point, but I had somehow disregarded this matter. (Happened 2 months ago, in the same basement master bedroom)

I believe in science and logic, but this completely threw me off, I was so confused.

      3. The third time just happened yesterday, at around 10 pm. I was trying to fall asleep, moved my body about 20 seconds before the vibration struck me. It got stronger. As it was getting stronger, i heard two people talking to each other, i opened my eyes, one was a meter right to my feet (female), the other a meter away from the right of my head. I didn't know what was going on, it felt real to me. I had thought it was my parents. The vibration got stronger, and I yelled my for my parents as loud as I can until I could move. I lied there for 2 minutes in confusion before I bolted upstairs. I noticed I was disoriented (after dropping things in my hand) and my body was still somewhat asleep and still felt a small vibration in my head. (Happened in the same basement master bedroom)

Common things: All events happened only in that room (it is cold, quite, and dark, all the requirements for OBE?). What is more strange is I am mostly conscious when it happens. When trying to sleep, you forget the exact moment when you go to sleep but here, as I am trying to go to sleep, it hits me. Not only that, I had moved my body maybe 20-30 seconds ago the third time. And after that I get the vibration and my body is paralyzed.

Is it even possible for my body to be paralyzed within 20 seconds of shifting?

Personally, I am terrified of this experience and do not know if I would completely freak out if I ever see myself sleeping or would I consider it interesting. The whole idea of it scares me but I don't know if everyone is at first. Is there any harm?

What can you do in this state, how far can you go? Can you open doors? Can you go outside? So many questions I have.

Also, I may be afraid of it from a silly movie called Insidious, where they showed people with out of body experience get lost in a unknown dimension and go into commas. I know its absurb but im pretty sure it is the source of my fear. Now that I know what this is, I may be less afraid of it.

Hey bhavik210. Thanks for sharing your experience and asking some great questions.

First, let me assure you there is nothing to fear. It is simply fear of the unknown. Once you get to know it more, the fear will subside. Think about how fearful people a thousand years ago would have been if they saw a huge loud metal object flying over their head? Yet we see that all the time today and think nothing of it, because we are familiar with airplanes.

Usually you should be able to stop the vibrations if you notice right when they start. There is a point in which the vibration becomes strong enough that it practically takes over and you have to know how to get back in your body, but if you catch it right as the vibration starts to set in and resist it (open your eyes and start moving) then you should be able to avoid it ever taking over.

Also, the more you think about this kind of thing, the more such experiences you'll have. If you don't want to have them, then focus your mind on other unrelated things. Watch some good comedy shows, or something. Get out of body experiences totally out of your mind, and they'll occur less frequently.

I offer this advice for you should you choose to continue wanting to avoid such experiences. Personally though, I'd much rather see you embrace them.

I am going over the pros and cons of it. I understand I should cast away my fear since it is understandable. Also, I did not even try to attempt a OBE. In fact, I had watched the game of thrones before going to sleep. It just happens by itself. I had no motive.

I do however lucid dream, happens 1-2 times a month. I remember my dreams without a dream diary for atleast 3-4 days (some really good dreams for a longer time). I do put in some effort to lucid dream by remembering by dreams but I don't try to force it.

I have seen what is possible with OBE and I feel I should embrace it. Is the vibration supposed to take over me? Also, how will I be in my astral form? Floating like it happened in event 2? Or in some cases will I get dragged out of my body (I hope that does not happen lol)

      To the OP:

I am no psychiatrist - but that sounds much more like a case of "night terrors" than OBE attempts to me.

If you continue to have episodes that make you very uncomfortable, scream or yell or otherwise accelerate or de-accelerate your heart rate (BP), than you may need to talk to a professional.

The good news is that if it is night terrors, there is treatment AND it tends to go away.

The other good news is that my doctor.... (I suffered from night terrors in the form of a pack of wolves [I couldn't move and could only see their eyes] encircled me and snapped their jaws at my limbs, it was terrifying!)...anyways - my doctor "prescribed" a book about lucid dreaming (this was in 1991) - I read it, and the journey began (and the night terrors ended).

Some people certainly OBE, Lucid Dream, channel other forces, creatively visualize, move objects, astral project (and much more) will little to no effort. And that 'could' be what's going on with you, but again...it doesn't sound like it to me. Please read up on night terrors by the professionals to see what you think.

      Do not worry.
Leave your dependences behind, feel real freedom and peace. Be truly free.

Vibrations are not requirement for separation. In fact, I feel them before separation only sparsely. I can feel them sometimes during OBE, while I'm concetrating on something. Mainly on energy flow.

It is not possible to get lost while out of body. I flew out of this galaxy once, and was back when OBE ended. I wanted to leave body for good many times in past, and here I am... when my time comes, my separation from body will become permanent. Not sooner whether I want or not. I would prefer, it will happen while I am out of body.

Being in astral is possible in many forms. It could look like your real body, it could look different, it could look like ball of energy... spark... or you can be there without visible body. You can move how you want to. Only requirement is concetration.

If you lucid dream so easily, recall your dreams so well without having to do a dream journal, and have OBE's without even trying, then you clearly have a knack for this stuff. Embrace it.

I really do not think it is night terror. I was thinking about game of thrones as I tried to sleep, nothing terrifying. I was just scared of not being able to move as I was confused (note I did not know what was happening, now I know it was a symptom of OBE). Not much I am afraid of, I have learned to conquer my fears through lucid dreams just as you did. It was just the situation since I did not know what was happening. Like a little child in an airplane for the first time.

Now that I know what it is, I will try to relax and let it happen. I am curious of what it feels like and the possibilities. Thank you for the guidance, it is appreciated. Should I speak to a psychiatrist as well regarding this?

I wouldn't recommend that unless sleep disorders are significantly and negatively affecting other parts of your life...
