Craft your bedroom into an epic sleep temple. If you can, avoid watching violent mental input during the day while in your Dream Temple. Make your room look beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, calming to the eyes during the day. Use colors that relax you. Remove unnecessary objects. Create a small shrine to lucidity and awareness. (You can be an atheist or agnostic and still do this. The shrine will have the same effect.)
In the morning and and night chant in front of your shrine. Chant to a statue, a scroll, a crystal, or nothing. Light candles, incense, have a small offering of water, flowers, and food. Clean your room when you wake up, and after dinner.
Get really comfortable bedding and pillows. We recommend buckwheat hull pillows, and 100% natural materials for all bedding. Wash all your bedding at least once a week, and de-clutter your room. Any kind of conflicts with people you live with should be resolved in a different room, if possible. Your Dream Temple should be mainly for sleep, relaxing, preening, meditation, and sex. Any other energies should be outside of the Temple.
Consecrating your Sleep Temple
After creating your Sleep Temple, do a ritual of Consecration. Burn white sage or mugwort, move the smoke around the room. Ask that your Sleep Temple be purified of past negative energies: now this is a clean, pure, Temple. Chant, and ask yourself if you are dreaming over and over again, to you begin to truly doubt.
Bring awareness to your voice, to your body, your emotions, let your thoughts flow through you, for they are not yours, but a stream of energy of the universe. Visualize a glowing energy pyramid of protection around you, and growing out to engulf your sleep temple, and another pyramid intersecting. Visualize the two as two different colors, now make them spin in opposite directions. You have just created a merkabah, for psychic self-defense. Ask for safety while you dream and explore the astral planes. End your ceremony with a bow of gratitude.
