      OBEs while sleeping

I gain consciousness for an instant while I'm sleeping and automatically control my entry (or exit since I feel the detachment of my *astral body*) in the dream world. Sometimes it does resemble my room, sometimes it does not. The one on 19/02 happened while I was exercising my visualization. It has happened while dreaming (with me lying on the ground or on a bed) and has worked as a reality check (with me gaining consciousness after the detachment). I had one spontaneous lucid dream and to me it's all the same. Can't tell any difference.

Wow, I'm noticing something quite similar. I have just a few days of experience and still cannot figure out how to get entirely out. When I go to bed I am able to wait for my second body to detach, but as i start pushing through I start opening my physical eyes expecting to see my astral arms push through and lose focus. I end up just focusing on the sensation of pushing through as I fall back to sleep and end up having extremely vivid dreams. I too am randomly gaining consciousness during my REM sleep cycle and feeling my second body detach... Once again I end up opening my eyes, expecting to see myself pushing through my physical body.

How are you getting out of your physical body?

I don't know. It happens very fast, I don't consciously control it. I used to lay down and try to astral project for hours (even two or more) only moving my mouth and my eyes, but without any success. This (and reading daily about the subject) conditioned my brain somehow to let me jump out whenever I'm conscious and in the right state, I guess. This month I was not really into it and had become shortly lucid on 24/03/2015.

My goodness wow, that's so interesting! When did you start this practice? Would this be during the daytime?

About five years ago, I was really into lucid dreaming but I became so caught up in the different transitions that occur during and after sleep-paralysis. Some truly immersive things start happening after sleep-paralysis -- well, during it I suppose. I was able to control the trance well enough to stop myself from entering a dream. Anyway, I ended up talking about it on the forums too much and stopped meditating into deep sleep. Because I didn't take note as to which sensations were most important and when to kick the trance up a notch, I lost that ability to go into such a deep trance. Reading about the subject just confused me to the point where I'd have doubt in everything I was doing.

Lately, I've been meditating into my sleep, (since about December of last year actually). Basically, I was just going into a light trance (felt like a light sleep-paralysis), I'd then fall asleep. This I think is what kept me sharp.

Thank you! I became interested in the last months of 2014. I don't know exactly why but I began having very vivid dreams, even compared to my current standards. Around november/december without any schedule I tried to project during the day or before going to sleep. Not very often actually. I don't use any particular technique, I simply struggle to rise/roll/jump out of my body. When you AP, I think there is no need to *open your eyes*.

      About five years ago, ---
You should keep trying, but be aware that AP/LD-ing could be more difficult during sleep onset due to the nature of sleep stages. I've read of someone who was able to lucid dream just after going to sleep so a lot of factors are involved, like training, the fact that different people have different brains, people who sleep less may enter the stages of deep sleep faster, etc... Nevertheless, one should at least try to be consistent in his attempts.
