Hello all,

This is my first post here, but I am by no means new to Lucid dreaming.

First a brief intro. I am in my late 20s and have been lucid dreaming since I can remember. As a child I would simply pinch myself in my dream to wake up when I was bored or didnt like the narrative. Over time I learned how to control my dreams and can enter a lucid state (wake induced) at will if I wake myself up around 3 a.m in the morning. I have logged 100s of lucid dreams and have had many more.

However I have become fearful of wake induced lucid dreaming and looking for other experienced lucid dreamers for help.

The technique I self-discovered to enter the lucid state is as follows:
I wake up around 2-4am, either with an alarm or naturally.
I slowly let my mind wander and relax, imagining I am rocking side to side. My left shoulder trying to roll over my right and then the left, and so on. Most importantly I have to lock my hand together above my head, under the pillow and be sleeping on my side. Soon enough I will start to have hypnogoic halluciantions, that range from people entering the room, people talking, footsteps, pressure on the bed, loud buzzing/vibrations, flashes...etc.. usually frightening, but I have to remain calm for it to work.
Usually within a couple minutes of me imagining the rocking, I will start to experience the real sensation of rocking, which increases until the point I start to roll sideways and fall out of my bed. I stand up and I am usually in a slightly different version of my room. My body is not always still in the bed and I sometime have to do some checks to verify it worked as it is so realistic.

This is when the horror usually begins.

When I enter the dream this way, there is ALWAYS a presence in the room with me. My room is always dark, no lights work, and I do not have the power I have to usually control my surroundings. This presence usually assumes the from of a shadow figure and usually attacks me. It ranges from shadow creatures, to small imps/men and even a creepy woman. I usually jump out of the window, or through a wall as i can pass through solid medium in my dream and fly away into another area of the dream. Sometimes I destroy them by imagining I am more powerful and ripping them to pieces. Other times I confront them asking what they are doing, to be met with laughter or random answers.

Nonetheless I want to reach out here to others that have experienced similar things and resolved them. I love lucid dreaming and I have stopped because of the frightening experiences both in the process of entering a dream and once I roll out of my body.

Thank you
