      I predicted my friends death

Recently a friend of mine died in some mysterious way while studying abroad in Ireland. She was 21, perfectly healthy, and actually an athlete. I'm not trying to make anyone sad or get some sympathy here, but I thought it was very strange when I remembered that I had a dream some time ago in which this girl died. The dream happened a while ago but it has always been one of my most vivid and easily remembered dreams of all time. I was actually sad when I woke up from that dream and it had seemed so real to me at the time that I did not even realize it had been a dream until hours after I had woken up that day.

I have never had anything else like this happen to me, but my grandmother every so often has dreams in which people she knows are handling raw, bloody meat in some way, and then soon after these dreams that person will get sick or have something bad happen to them.

Is this kind of stuff connected or is it all just coincidence? I would like to be able to develop this ability and after coming to this website I am going to start a dream journal. Is there any thing else I can do to try and harness this supposed precognition?

(just as an end note, this girl was my 3rd friend to die in 3 months. All 3 were 21 years old.)

Hey there and welcome to the forum!
Sorry that happened to you. It must be very hard (maybe they died of SADS?). I know how it feels, because in one of the Dreams I had, I was with my boyfriend, flying around in white robes, but now that I look back, his sash had been cut off (in this type of dreaming, it is a clear indication of death, since mine goes BTB), and I cried for days after that. Also, it happened once with my uncle, and right when it happened, I found myself flying towards the sky, and finding him (weird), then going back to my seat. This was just when I was starting to have these dreams, too!
That is known as Prec dreams, and if you really want to discuss this kind of stuff, you should check out Beyond Dreaming. And I do think it is possible, though everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
As for learning to LD, you are on the right track at dedicating yourself to writing in a DJ, but also you might want to take a look at the tutorials section as well!
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

PS: Please do not double-post!! It makes Seeker and the mods go beserk!

From my experience, I too have had a dream of one of my friends dying; fortunately none of it has come true. One can't completely rule out a possibility, but, in my opinion, nothing suggests that your dream is more than a coincidence. I guess a part of us fears of losing the people closest to us, and deep inside us that fear is a great one (for most people); so that's why it frequently surfaces from our subconscious into our dreams.

Let me start by saying there is no such thing as coincidence. Everything in nature has a cause and effect relationship, it just may be outside our scope of understanding. If you have a hunch or get a feeling about something then there is probably a reason for it. Why else you you thinking about it at all?

I have had premonitions in my dreams before and they can seem very real. The first one I had (a few years back) I saw an old woman dying in a pool of blood. You can only imagine how horrific it was to see the same woman dying in real life after the fact. Most recently I had some bad omens preceeding the death of my grandmother. So yes, this stuff is for real, I can tell you that much for a fact. Other people may try to convince you it was a random coincidence, but it is only their frail attempt to justify to themselves the dying paradigm they are so desperately clinging on to.

In terms of these type of psychic abilities getting passed down, it wouldn't surprise me. Everyone has the ability, some may be born with a natural talent, but we all can do it. I think it has more to do with how people are raised. If your parents are strict, old-fashioned in belief it is likely you will adopt a conservative outlook of the world. If your parents are new-agers and bring you up with an open mind it is likely these type of experiences would happen more. So the fact that your grandmother told you about these meat dreams, and you believing in her, would increase your chance of having a similar experience. There may be a genetic link as well, who really knows?

Im sure you have many questions, as I am still asking some of these same things myself. Every answer or explanation only leads to a whole nother set of questions. But there is still much to learn. I dont know how experienced you are with lucid dreaming, but that is a good way to develop your dreams. There are many good articles on this site you may want to read. Also, you want to purchase a journal to write down all your dreams. This is very important for dream recall. Other than that, its all about your dedication. If this is something that interests you, stick around on this forum and I'm sure you'll learn a lot.

Sorry for the double post of the same story. Still new at this.
The only reason I am scepticle of my dream being a precognition is because it happened more than 2 years before it actually happened. And if anyone is able to analyze this dream this is what happened:
I went to this girls house, even though I have never been there in real life, and it was all green and had a long driveway. I went inside her house and I was the only person there. I jumped inside a ball pit (the things with hundreds of those small plastic colorful balls they have in Chuk-E-Cheese's) and while in the ball pit the notion that my friend was dead just popped into my head. I was very sad because I have known this girl since I was 4 years old. I then left her house and got into the backseat of a car, and it started driving. I was drinking alcohol in the car when all of a sudden a cop pulled us over on an overpass going over a busy highway at night. I was in fear and tried to pour my beverage out of the car door without the cop noticing. Just sitting there with the blue lights flashing through the back window of the car was my last memory.
I then woke up and emotionally I was very sad and truly though my friend was dead. Only later in the day did I realize it never happened and at that point I felt very relieved. Then on January 26 of this year she died of septicemia, a rare bacterial infection.

This is a link to her information:

I am very sorry for your losses...

I cannot comment on everything, but your grandmother's knack for premonition probably correlates with your own.

Its a different subject matter... but my family, specifically my father and my mother's entire side, have a strange connection with ghosts.

As far back as I can remember, ghost stories were the norm at family functions. My aunts and uncles, as well as my father, would all sit around at a picnic or barbecue and share experiences with the supernatural. It was as if my family had a specific predisposition for "feeling" the presence of ghosts.

I have always been able to sense spirits. Growing up, I could hear them walking when I tried to sleep. I became very troubled by my 'talent' and began counceling. I havent had a ghostly encounter in some time now, but my family still experiences it on a normal basis.

I know it is off topic, but being around people who share a knack for something out of the ordinary not only seems to be connected... but being RELATED seems to just breed people who share the same deep insight or strange ability.

Just adding my two cents. If anyone wants to talk about ghosts, I can go on for hours and hours...

      Cheers.

      Quigley:
I have also had some ghost experiences. Probably nothing as crazy as you, but this is what happened. I was born in a very old house where a famous murder had taken place a long time ago. John Quincy Adams actually came and slept in that house because he was the lawer defending the murderers. I forget the exact details but a man and his mother killed a 16 year old girl in that house. Much later, but before I lived there, a freak accident occoured and another 16 year old girl died by slipped in the shower and hitting her head. My mother has told me that there would be times when she was all alone in the house nursing me as a baby or something and she could feel or sense the presence of somebody watching. A cold chill would cover her body, but it wasnt a breeze and it was summer infact. This all happened before she learned of the murders and death so she had no preconcieved notion. Now we live in another wicked old house from 1753 and time to time she and my sister have woken up in the middle of the night and seen a little old lady sitting in a chair watching them sleep. This only happens in 1 room of the house which happens to be my room. I've never seen a ghost or heard one, but sometimes I get a sudden feeling like somebody is following me around in the house. What has happened to you?

I had a dream that my rabbit 9Smokey) died. I was holding him and running away from these white figures. The dream was very abstract and it was like I was running through a whit maze with white walls. I was cornered by the fighures and one of them said 'Its time to let him go' and he (it sounded like a male but I couldnt see its face) took my rabbit away from me. Then i woke up and my Mum told me that he had died. I didnt have any idea that he was dying and he wasnt old but it was a vivid dream and I woke up very upset.

That was about 6 or 7 years ago and nothing like that had happened before or after I had that dream.
      She's born to mesmer...

Sorry about your many losses. That is so much to deal with all at once. Hang in there.

Could you have sensed some subtle change in your friend's behavior that may have been a cue that something was wrong with her physically?

A lot of dreams that seem precognitive are dreams of something we've notcied on a very subtle level, unconscious even. For example, you dream that the balcony rail in your apartment is loose and it breaks when you lean against it. Better to go check the rail right away. At some point, you may have seen; glanced at a loosening bolt, but had too many other things in your mind. Or if you dream someone is breaking in your house, check everything. (This happened to me and years before, to a neighbor). Of being broken into, you may have seen something out of place. Your mind knows where things should have been, but you blow it off. Or maybe you smelled the person around--at sense that human beings have, but are just not good at anymore. Some illnesses have a sent that dogs can pick up. Don't laugh or do, you sound like you could use it, maybe you have a really good nose; a more gifted sense of smell. You've heard the expression, "Something just didn't smell right."

Thinking back though, I remember having experiences similar to yours with death, but not through dreams. 3 times, I saw an expression on people's faces as if their spirit had already died and I thought, they are going to die soon and they did. One was a really young guy who died in a car crash. It was like a part of them had already given up. Could you have seen a look like that on your friend's face?

I am so sorry. I just cannot imagine having to deal with so much at once. Don't give up yourself.

Definately keep a dream journal. I've read everything I could get my hands on about dreams. A lot of it is junk, but if this is what you are into, study it; dive in. This would be a really good time for you to start too. Best of luck.
