I would have to say that I have had more than 10 precognitive dreams that I can remember in my life time. However, the majority of them were re-occurring dreams that symbolized specific events in my life. In most cases the underlying subject was correct but the exact content varied. i.e. Since graduation I had many dreams of going back to high school. A few years later, when I applied for admissions to a local university, I found out that the two-bit private-school my parents sent me to was not acceptable. I had to then obtain a GED. Hence, my dreams of going back to high school. I feel as if I graduated twice. I have had other similar dreams in my life varying from future outings with certain family members to scenes from a movie that I didn't know I would watch until the next day.

The poll is to see how common such dreams are in the Dream Views community and to encourage input into proposed methods of inducing and enhancing precognitive dreams rather that lucid dreams (an area that I am lacking). It seems that the more I ponder PDs, the more frequent they become. Actually, I have PDs way more often than LDs. Perhaps, some people are predisposed to one type of dreaming rather than the other. Any thoughts?

Hmm... so few are responding to this topic. I am finding it hard to find information on PD as well as general intrest. Perhaps I am in the minority?

0 - my dreams never seem to relate to waking life, unless I induce WILDs.

Personally, I side with the theory of deja vu being a result of precognitive dreaming (when precognitive dreams that aren't remembered are realized in the waking state).
I've not had a single precognitive dream per se but I do feel strongly about deja vu and dreaming being related. Perhaps it's worth some study as well?

I remember 2 or 3. Maybe it was more in my youth...
One of them connected with a death time of a relative of mine. It was correct with about 30 minutes of inaccuracy.
      I'm tired being sorry.

Yes thats it. I cant tell you how many times I had been in a situation that I felt "I have done this before".

Now if only we could dream of things that are of true importance, like say next weeks lotto numbers.

I have had several of these throughout my life. The first one was actually induced; the rest were not.

When I was about 16 years old I was reading a book on such things and it described a method in which the meditator pictured a bright white light above him/her and focused concentration on the desire to posses that light. As this becomes stronger, the meditator then gradually has the light come closer until it engulfs and penetrates him/her. This was supposed to induce precognition. I said "what the hell" and tried it. Sure enough, my first precognitive dream was on that night. Whether I had the dream because of the visualization (doubtful) or because of my desire to have such a dream (probably) is not certain as this was hardly a controlled experiment.

I never did the visualization again but have had many such dreams since. I do not think it is wise to become attached to these things too much, but as a result, I believe they increase when desire becomes less yet knowledge and belief remain. In our attempts to control such things, we often sabotage them. Like a person trying way too hard to have an OBE or a lucid dream...often they will be too excited to get anywhere and will wake up. It's a delicate balance.

I have had countless precognitive dreams, anywhere from family members dieing to friends identical twins commiting suicide to the more mundane things like eating dinner with friends and meeting new people before we have ever met each other. They always seem so random at times. I have been trying to develop this skill but it is very hard because its like taking a small strand of memory of a future time at random and hoping that its something significant. There was this one time though where I had a precognitive dream of the future from a couple years back to 40 years into the future. Things have happened that were in that dream but it is like thinking of something from 15 years ago on a certain date. Only the major things stick out of such a dream. My most recent was I decided to help a friend take down alot of signs for his father and would get a lunch and some money for my troubles. We went to a restraunt that I have never been to and got to meet his new wife that I have never met. But when I remembered the dream from a sequence of events I noticed and I turned around to where I was seeing it from the precognitive dream and remembered I did the same thing in the vision. Very strange experiences in dealing with precognitive dreams. Remember the future is not set in stone. I have changed these precognitive dreams sequences. I dont know how I changed things but they can be changed.
To one day say ive been there, and this is how you can get there is the best gift you can give somebody. May we all pass something along that will help us all in our development and understanding in all that is and will be.

I tend to think that it is. As in, that you changed the future, was what was suposed to happen. Then again maybe that is an illusion.

I'm sure a lot of people say it...but I dreamed of a plane hijack the night before 9/11. Serious - obviously can't prove it, and that's all it was, a short dream of a hijack, nothing else that happened that day.

The most exact procog dream i had was a 2 for one deal. I was riding in my friends car in the back seat when all of a sudden i say it going out of controll and he ended up crashing and totaling his car. Then i got "sucked up" and came flying straight down into another scene, And i might say that was pretty freaking wierd. But anyway i zoom back to the ground and i am talking to this girl but i could not see her face. A very bright light was blocking it from me and i actually even said you know i cant see your face right now and that was the end of the dream. I might add that the whole dream took place outside at night.

So heres where things got wierd. I told my brother about the part of my dream were my friend ( jon ) crashed his car. He didnt think much of it. I didnt really either but i thought of the possiblity of it actually happening. About a week or 2 went by and i get this call from my Jon saying that he totalled his car, i stood there in silence and listen to how it happen. I then told him about how i had a dream about it and told it to my brother. He was believed me and just thought it was really wierd.

The next part came about another week later. I was back at Jons house sitting outside smoking a cig with my friends, im not really paying attention to the convo that is going on until my other friends says to this girl who is standing infront of a light outside that he cant see her face because the light coming from behind her was too strong, i didnt say anything to anyone because people wouldnt know how to react to something completely random like that but it was too perfect for it to be a coincidence.

I have had many other procog dreams including my sisters husband meeting jessica simpson in las vegas haha but this one was the most accurate and hey it was a 2 for 1 deal so i had to tell it

      Precognition

Perhaps I have been warned a few times.

When I was still in my twenties I had a vision of myself in my thirties. I was on stage with my violin. I had this long beard and a horrible ratty brown sweater. I had definitely gone too far into Music. I looked… well… inarticulate. I’m sure my violin playing was very good, but I did not like what else had happened to me. So I bought a piano and got more into writing.

Then, in my thirties I dreamt that I was up on stage, looking significantly older and I was receiving The Enlightenment Award or some such thing. Immediately after receiving the Award and after the applause died down somewhat, the Master of Ceremonies asked me “Leo, how old are you?” and I answered “43”.

Well, and so I was stuck with that Albatross around my neck for quite some time… thinking I would achieve Enlightenment when I was 43. Counting down the years.

What happened was I went through an Atheist Phase. To me Liberation became Liberation from Spiritual Anxieties. I looked about and saw every expression of Spirituality to be some thinly disguised trap-work of Commercialism. My Enlightenment was Cynical.

So I went back to Secular Studies and brushed up on History. I spent ten years straight reading History. And despite the English Language’s inherent prejudice against Catholicism, any look at History, with any faculty of discernment, will reveal a sense of importance. And then there were the Marian Apparitions throughout History. And one could not claim these to be a Catholic Conspiracy, as the Institutionalized Catholic Church were Patriarchs and often the first to object to and oppose the Marian Apparitions.

Well, defending Catholic Civilization eventually drew me back into Spirituality.

Recently my Dreams have been revealing a Future of Refugees. Angels had come to me and told me that “The People’s of the 3 Mountains are afflicted with Famine and Drought and would have to be led to the Lake of Spiritual Waters”. But that was a while back. And nobody stepped forward to do any ‘leading’ and now my dreams show refugees wandering, searching… fleeing from what is behind them, but unsure of where to go.

Well, I wrote this "dream" in my journal this morning and I thought I would post it as a topic on "Precognition" (having had no real experience with it so far). However, I saw this topic and decided to add to it instead.

      Precognition 1
      Saturday, 9th September. 2006

Before sleeping last night I read a few chapters in “Seth, Dreams and Projections of Consciousness” on Precognitive Dreams. Interestingly, I did not remember my dreams upon waking throughout the night except one. I had left my dictaphone on record before sleeping so when I tried to record it there was no memory, so I lost the dream… until later.

When my brother Liam and I walked the couple of kilometres to the shop for our usually “supplies” consisting of Coke, Mars Bars and a DVD I said, “I hate when I don’t record any dreams at night, it feels like such a waste of sleep.” He non-committedly agreed.

Not a minute later he asked me if I had seen the movie, “Stand By Me.” Astonished, I excitedly told him of a part of the dream he just helped me to remember.

“At the end of the dream, you and I were singing ‘Stand By Me!’ Holy shit!”

We then started singing the song together for good measure. At the end of the recital were the lyrics, “And the Moon, is the only, light we see.” This further regenerated my memory and I knew that this line was the reason for our singing the song. It was related to a question Liam asked me in the dream, “Why are the morning stars the most important?” [NB. It is a full moon tonight].

Then when we returned home Liam logged onto the internet, which again brought back memories! The sound of the modem connecting reminded me of listening to an electronica song in the dream with Liam with that exact same sample (modem) featured in the intro. I was annoyed in the dream, claiming that I wanted to use that sample in one of my own songs!

The drama does not stop there. We rented the movie, “The Brothers Grimm” and settled down to watch it. Half way through the movie two of the brothers’ assistants are lowered into a fiery pit. Strangely, there are glass boxes around their heads and on the inside of these boxes are snails. Someone in the movie asks, “Are they snails?”

In my dreams I remembered being pinned from behind by a random skater-punk type character. He is doing it good-naturedly, like a “Jackass” sort of thing, but firmly. My attention is drawn to a single snail on the ground near us. As if on cue he squashes the snail and runs his index finger through its entrails. I am unable to stop him from rubbing it on my face.

Although this had no “precognitive features” the guy then pisses on my back and laughs. I remember thinking in the dream that I was glad he had such a wicked sense of humour, as before I was unsure. “I’ll get him back.”

Leo, while I too have had dreams of refugees, I was one of them in the dream, I think you may be full of it. LOL. Are you sure you didn’t embellish your story just a tad? It feels like you had a condescending and mocking tone. In any event I hope the dream you were talking about is nothing more than that.

When I was 20, I had a dream I crashed my car. The paramedics asked my age and I would tell them 32, 32.

When I was 32, I was scared to have the accident so I was super careful.

I turn 33 relieved. A month later I had the car accident. I was half frozen in snow when the paramedics came. They asked my age, I said 33, 33. The paramedics said ok, you're 32.

No, 33, 33. and I had a flash back of the dream. I kept insisting, 33, 33 I'm fucking 33. The paramedic kept saying 32 back.

      Fuck. I was so furious...

the last one is the one for which this night i don't want to go to bed. because i don't want tomorrow to come.
i haven't talked to my ex best friend since last month, because after group problems he hates me and i suffer terribly for this. two nights ago, right before the lucid i told in my dj, i dreamt (not lucid but aware it was "half reality"- while dreaming i falsely perceived it as a shared dream) about "having an unexpected chance to talk to him again, and definitely don't liking it", because of the presence of some of the ex friends that betrayed me.
yesterday my teacher called me to his office tomorrow morning, and i called my ex friend who has en exam in the same place, to warn him i could'nt help being there.
i didn't like what he said: that some of the ex friends would have been there to wish him good luck.

now: i didn't expect my teacher to call me at all,
nor i knew what day was his reception day,
those girls never did something like coming to venice

why should i be warned if i can't stop things to happen? just to suffer more?
      it is not fair.

Perhaps it is to prepare for what is it come. I would rather know that a dreaded event is coming even though I cannot prevent it. It is still better than being blind sided unexpectedly. Of course, the agony of waiting and feeling helpless to stop it can be unbearable as well.

      future dreaming

Hi I just joined and wrote about this in the newbie section. In a pre cog dreamer too and Im very interested in finding others who are too.
Im beyond being scared of it (which I was for a long time) and now I want to see if others have the same markers...I have symbols or images very strongly in mine(Im an artist),,They start in the dark...I dream in sequence but the events can unfold over 24 hours and all are involved with high emotional experiences.

Does any of this happen with you??

my precog dreams are annoying because i can never tell if a dream i just had relates to life or not. i obviously find out later if it happens or not though. i just wish i could cultivate this ability somehow.my last major precog dream i remember was of when i had my friends over for a birthday party which i never do so i thought it was just a normal dream. but we were in my pop up camper and i was playing a game with a couple of them when i got extreme dejavu and then remembered my dream. i remember blurting out "i've dreamt this would happen" my friend gave me a wierd look so i explained thet in the morning one of my other friends was going to wake up and complain because she lost the glowstick in her bed in the middle of the night. in the morning she complained in exactly the same way i described and made us look for it.

I once had a 100% accurate precognitive dream. I remember dreaming a couple of scenes with me doing random kid stuff at school. The dream didn't contain the whole day, just random scenes. The next day everything happened 100% just like in my dream, I didn't knew that I had dreamed this until the last scene had happened. The dream consisted of me playing with my friends with water bottles and stuff, I won't go into details because I am... ashamed of myself in some way and it was just random kiddy stuff.

I also have lots of deja-vus.

I have these all the time since I was a kid. The thing is they don't necessarily mean anything, I see a full image of a place that I just pass off as a normal dream. And then a few years or sometimes weeks or days later I'll see it. I was in south africa a year ago and I had hundreds of "deja-vu's" but I completely remembered the dream. Thats what I think deja vu's are, personally.
