Being an animal or your opposite sex in a dream

      Hello people,
have you ever been animal in your dream? Or from the opposite sex?

My favorite dream about being animal is when i was dolphin. I was in a place which was looking like sea but in a passage which was with fence. So i was trapped. But then another dolphin came and started to teach me how to jump really high not as high as i could till this moment. So i was jumping jumping all night and it was great. I felt happy. Finally i managed to learn how to jump and jumped over the fence. Then i was free.

But being from the opposite sex in dream is equally strange. Once i was a pregnant woman Man that was weird i thought. I am woman and pregnant on top. Hm And yet i felt strangely nice and happy that i have a life in my belly. I liked this dream.

I can't remember being an animal recently, but I do occasionly dream I'm a man. I've never really thought of it as strange... until now. It usually happens to me when I suddenly become a DC. Like, I'll be standing in a room talking to a man, and then next second, I'll be the man.

That's one of the main reasons I started lucid dreaming. I've been an animal in a couple of non-lucids, but it's never felt particularly real.

In another dream i was a big cat (something like leopard or similar it does not matter) and it was beautiful. I had companions. We were traveling in a river bed which was dry. We were walking and walking and enjoying the beauty around here and there were some nice but strange statues which were quite old. After some time we reached the end of the "road". It was a big door real big one. With statues around the entrance. But the interesting part is that the entrance was dark and purple. But intensely dark. You could not see anything inside even though it was day outside. So there was idea to go and check what is in there. The moment i started to reach the entrance i felt some bad feeling in my guts. Every step to the door was increasing my bad feel and fear was appearing. Suddenly i heard a noise from behind and i knew we had to run. The river was coming at us. So we had to run for our lives. With big effort managed to get out of this scary place.

Lol, I just had a non lucid where I could turn into a bird at will last night Flying around as a bird is fun, although I had a bit of trouble getting off the ground because the wind was fairly strong. Apparently I was supposed to fly into the wind to gain height, which I think I only figured out because some voice told me. I'm definitly going to have to do that again in a lucid, it was awesome.

I'm usually not animals, but I have been just about any race, age, and gender in dreams. I once had one dream that was so real that the people I were seeing I had no idea who they were. BTW the age was a infiant. I've been many different ages which always gets me in my dream is because who does one know the prospectives or feelings? When a different gender never been I still do not understand how it can be correct on the body since I've never felt the same as them or have a memory.

I've been a dog in a non-lucid. I think I was meant to be my pet dog actually, I was running really fast in a field, was great.
Hey wouldn't it be great if you could be a baby?! That'd be interesting, wouldn't be able to do alot though, just lie there lol. I'm gonna try that in my next lucid.

I don't ever remember dreaming being male, but I love dreaming that I am an animal. In fact, just last night I did have a strange dream that I was a wolf.

At first I was running from something through some dark woods on a wide but over grown path. The woods were partially lit in one small area with a man made light. Still running, I suddenly became a large wolf, and I was the one chasing something. I couldn't see what I was chasing, but I knew it was there, somewhere ahead of me. I didn't see myself either, but somehow I knew that I had transformed.
Later in the dream I became human again, and I had a large bruise on my ankle from when I was a wolf. I KNOW that the bruise in the dream had something to do with the real bruise I got the day before.

This was a non-lucid, but it was VERY vivid. I liked this dream, and I woke up with an odd feeling of satisfaction.

Just becareful about part of it. I once had a lucid dream similar to that only I ended up experiencing birth backwards. Let's just say that is the weirdest feeling ever. I know I'm strange and have VERY STRANGE dreams, but it's only because I keep a open mind.

Also becareful I once had a dream were I tried being a woman and ended up a woman in a bussiness suit that was late. Let's just say having a dream about running in high heels really makes you understand women and part of me even though TG myself thank God I don't have to go through worrying about breaking a heel everyday.

I've been male in a few dreams before, but not often.

Here's another thread about dreaming about being the opposite sex, if you're interested.

heh, it was different, that's for sure. All I did was fly over New York City though - and I could've done that no matter what sex I was.

I remember as a kid being a shark. Swiming through the middle of a crystal clear ocean with no land in sight, jumping out of the water, exploring the coral reefs. Yeah, it was lengthy, and awesome. I was lucid as well, and surprisingly accepting for being a 8 year old.

I remember being a wolf running through the woods, not much else to that dream.

I remember being a ~15ft. tall winged dragon. Non-Lucid. Not exactly a pleasant memory though, I consider it a nightmare since it was extremley lengthy (couple days) and it's the only dream i've ever taken someone elses life, just because I wanted to see what it felt like (wow, now that's a scary thought). The landscape was amazing, somewhat like lord the rings meets arctic canada, but with a haunting aspect I remember all to well. A previous poster said something about strange dreams and an open mind. Well, this is my version. I've become that dragon in 2 other dreams, the last of which I learned it's name. Grexxis.

So far it seems not to many people other than myself (and a friend) have had problems with falling asleep and getting ripped into a reality that shatters your concepts of what is possible and what is concievable. It didn't seem like a dream at all, it was a nightmare made reality. Perhaps it's dreams like these that trace back to my schizophrenic tendancies. And my friend found a corpse in the middle of down. Which would explain his nightmares...

Yes, I've been a lot of things. I've been young and old, man, woman. There are many dreams where I am someone else, can be both sexes. I was a bird once, a cat, I shapeshifted into different things in one dream where I was trying to hide, and I decided to hide as a small piece of paper and tape myself underneath a bed. LOL! I've been married, at a wedding, pregnant, a mother, and an adulterer, a child.. I've switched perspective between male and female too. I also love to fly and become invisible in my dreams. It's very weird but mostly fun. Oh, a mermaid.. that was cool.

What about fantasy creatures that have been in your dreams? I had some dreams with dragons in them, and a few with aliens. In two of them the aliens were trying to enslave everyone and in the other, it was like a different world with what I think were like lizardmen.
      well wishes,
      lily

I've had around 5 dreams or so where I was female. I think these dreams are actually pretty fun, because I really feel like a woman in these dreams. It expands my sense of self.

As for being different animals, I've only had one dream where I shapeshifted into a bat and flew around the city.

Exactly! It is useful to be from the opposite sex in our dreams. It gives us another perspective. May be we can start understand better the opposite sex.

Once, I had a dream in which I could transform into a bird. That was several years ago, so I can't remember a lot of details, but I recall going outside with my brother to practice flying. I don't think flying was particularly hard, at first, at least until I started thinking about how exactly I was doing it. >_>

The dream was rather vivid, I think, though I never became lucid in it.
