This has happened to me before as well. I had an extremely frightening dream a few years back, in which I was aware that I was dreaming, but just as frightened none-the-less. I tried to wake myself up by grabbing a knife and cutting my arm open from the inside of the elbow, down to the wrist. I did in fact wake up, and when I did I was clutching my arm and it was seering like someone had set it on fire. The pain only lasted a few seconds, but it really freaked me out.

I've been stabbed in a dream. They memory of it is so clear than even to this day when I think about it. The pain aches in that area.

Hmm I havent had pain carry into the waking world because I tend to block it off in dreams, so if i'm stabbed I feel nothing. I did however have a nightmare and it involved someone commiting sucide in my bedroom and there was lots of blood on my and when I woke up I thought I could feel the blood in my hair, it freaked me out so much I had to have a bath.

I've felt something like that to, but it was more on an emotional level than a physical connection. It was a dream about me meeting my child, even though Im 16

I haven't had many pain related dreams lately, but it has happened to me before. Right now all my dreams are chase dreams (and I've interpreted these dreams, I know what I'm running from)

Ever heard the statement "Pain is in the mind"? Maybe there's some truth to it, when you're feeling pain in the real world just think of something else, it just seems to fade away. The pain feels real because your mind makes it real, without the actual physical affects of course .s

Bleh after answering this post I had a dream last night, a sniper was after me and I was dodging left and right, he got within a few feet and I became lucid and I said "go ahead shoot my hand" and he shot at it and I said "watch this" and I passed my hand over it and it healed it, other than the blisters I have at the moment, and he tried shooting at my face with no effect, when I woke up my hand was hurting, Im not sure from the dream or the blisters, but I wont be able to tell untill my blisters heal. I will sleep lots tonight and have a Lucid dream I hope (By typing that I am doing my version of wild Will Induced Lucid Dream)

Wow, that's strange. Good thing you became lucid. It reminds me of the Matrix!

*rolls eyes* Evanescent I thought you said you'd stop spamming...

Just as you can feel objects in dreams, you can feel pain. Thus when you wake up, some pain may flow into waking life. Thats the way I see it.

Those if you who have continuing pain, then if you're into dream analysis you might want to try that. Maybe the dream (and thus the pain) was something very important to you.

A couple of days ago I dreamed that I
was spinning some kind of big wheel with a handle (In order to get some music playing...).
The strange thing was, that when I woke up I felt tired in my arms!

hehe in my 2nd fully fully concious lucid dream 2 days ago.. or was it yesterday... whenever it was, i devoted that whole LD to getting a feel for the LD 'world' and one of the things i tested was pain,
i sat at a table and hit my hand onto the table and then hit my fingers tips on the table aswell, both were different amounts of pain, it sorta felt like, you know when your hands are really cold like when it snows, and you say... slap the table it hurts 2x more but not really pain, just a numb pain? it felt like that, so..
in MY lucid dreams i have been able to feel dull pains quite well, nothing really bad tho,
so any of you get the same thing?

Well, remeber that your mind interprets all of the messages that your nerves send; it's the one that makes pain, not the actually wound. So, when you dream, your mind might be tricked into thinking that you were actually hurt, and so it sends signals about a wound that isn't there.

That has happened to me before, aswell. I got shot in an old-western draw and it woke me up, but the spot that I had gotten hit (my stomach) hurt for a second or two after I woke up and it scared me because I thought that maybe I'd really been shot or something.

      Pain in dreams

Just the other day I dreampt that a girl i knew was shooting a roman candle or something like it at me. In the dream i remembered that the girl was a troubled girl (dont know the girl in rl and dont remember dreaming of her before). When one of the rockets finally hit me it went up my sleave and blew up. It didnt really hurt untill i saw the large scrap it made on my skin. I ran back to my home (in the dream) and got really pissed and was about to call the cops. I awoke not to long after that. I looked at my arm to see if anything was wrong and there was nothing there. The pain faded away within a few minutes but just knowing i had pain in my dreams kinda feaks me out. I read that having pain in dreams might mean that you are actaully feeling pain in rl ie, maybe i was sleeping on my arm wrong. I do think it is weird to have memories in my dreams though, knowning that they are not even real memories. Anyone else have fake memories?

I've never felt residual pain upon awakening.

However, IMO, a downfall to lucid dreaming regularly is that when you finally do have a dream that you can't control, it's scary as hell.

About seven years ago, I had a dream that my friends had betrayed me and were slaughtering me in some sort of demonic ceremony with this sacrificial knife. So I thought "ha, there's no way this is real, I'll just take control", and I couldn't. So I tried my technique for aborting a dream (staring at my hand and blinking), but then one of the people in my dream bent my arm back so I couldn't see my hand, and I couldn't wake up. So I tried my emergency wake up technique (holding my breath), and that didn't work either (only one of four times in my life that has never worked), then they started stabbing. I was screaming in pain, and I couldn't wake up, even though I knew I was dreaming and knew it wasn't real, but the pain was so intense, it hurt more than anything I've ever felt in dreams or in reality. I think I actually died in my dream.

When I finally woke up after what seemed like an eternity, my head and heart were pounding, I was drenched in sweat and I had torn my sheets to shreds.
