Not when people see them in the middle of the day as they are walking down the street.

Old hag must be the cause, in each of the cases that I've undergone sleep paralysis I've seen those shadow figures.
In most of my extremely low-level lucid dreams; I watch them sneak up to my bedside and stand around me. Although sometimes they come as animals instead, mainly wolves.
I think silhouettes of figures must be the mind's default for any living being, which is probably why the case is so popular.

Never happened to me, but there are plenty of accounts of it.

I'm reasonably sure that hypnagogic hallucinations and the hallucinations experienced by schizophrenics are one and the same. The clinical list of symptoms for either are interchangeable. If shadow people are linked to HH, perhaps the people who see them during the day are experiencing schizophrenia?

The thing is I have some degree of control over my HH. When you wake up to see one of those things in your room, you become very skeptical. You don't want that fucking thing to be real.

Whenever I saw them, I tried a lot of stuff to try and see if they were really a product of my mind. Trying to influence them, change them, even a minor flicker of mutation. Even tried to tackle them a couple of times, but nothing ever worked. I'm just saying it freaks me out that I couldn't relate it anything I knew about dreaming or HH.

So the general consensus is that they're HI (or HH) and not actual, externally existing entities? Sort of unexciting if you ask me.

Have there been any reported cases of multiple people seeing the same shadow figures?

So is everything that's proven to be NOT MAGIC.

      Of course, coincidences happen.
Put two babbling drug-induced looneys in a room and eventually they'll wind up seeing the same thing at least once.

Ha then maybe if less people with something to prove decided to disprove all the interesting things, there'd be fewer cynics and more fun.

I guess you could put it that way.
But the only way to achieve that result would be mass genocide of skeptics.
      This website would prosper however.

My own shadow is probably what I spend the most time looking at, when I walk, when I stand. I'm always outside. I would assume that the first/2nd thing people look at in another being would be it's outline/ it's shape. The logical, not skitzo, explanation might be that a silhouette or a shadow would appear. Out of all hallucinations, a darkened shape seems the most simple.
