Dreams are just your mind dealing with the day's events, right?

...Nothing paranormal about that; everyone does it. I mean, there are places you visit often in your dreams. A certain house, a shop, a school... But these places are just figments of your imagination, right?...Have you ever wondered about these places and the people within them?

I know you're out there, "lucid dreamers". You're the ones who can control what happens when they dream. You are just beyond that film, that membrane that separates us... . Lucid Dreamer, have you ever wondered what that beautiful woman in your dream felt when you suddenly decided you wanted to **** her? Oh, she seemed willing enough, didn't she?

Have you ever considered that you raped that woman, Lucid Dreamer? That she had no choice but to do everything you willed her to do while her mind watched on in horror? Remember, Lucid Dreamer, all those awful things you have done in your dreams...

And consider what those who call dreams their home must think of you.
What they wish to do to you in kind.
I'm waiting, Lucid Dreamer, for those nights when your exhaustion keeps you from your power.
Oh, the things I will do to you then.
      Sweet dreams.

I have not had a lucid dream (yet!), but I'd like to point out just one thing -

There is no biological systems residing within that person in your mind, and that person is just a bunch of neural impulses, and a part of your subconscious in effect.

I don't know if you intended your statement as a metaphor or as a literal, but if the latter, I can assure you that there is no conscience within that dream character's head.

There is still a morality issue however - it is really an issue of lust vs. rape.

The dream would be considered the former. Whether you view that as a bad thing or not, is up to you.

Not sure if this dude is trolling, or one of the moon-units who genuinely believe
      that:-
      a) they can have actual OBE's and wander through the real world like a ghost.
      b) that the people in our heads are dream imps who live in dream land, which we can
      only visit when we sleep.

Either way, a waste of time.

There is nothing important or organized about them, just random pieces of memory that you think of well in an incoherent state that allows your thoughts to be very vivid.

In before flames. I'm not sure if he's trolling or not. All I can tell from his previous posts is that he types better now.

Anyway, I seek to become a hero of my dreams. I haven't even kicked any villain ass yet (when a villain presents itself, I will fight!). Mostly, I've just been questing and lifting curses. *shrugs*

By the way, if she is willing, it is not rape.

I'm gonna start raping every man, woman, child, animal, and inanimate object in my dreams. Right after I'm done moving this to Beyond Dreaming.

Apparently this guy can't even lucid dream... that makes me giggle.

Uh, what? That is actually very disturbing. Probably not the best way to convince anyone that what they said is not morally wonrg.

      It's called sarcasm

So you guys are opposed to me raping inanimate dream objects (that could, btw, easily be made to be animate)? Bummer.

      Fucking morals.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

If you shoot a person in a computer game - does it make you a murderer?

      interesting comparison Lan.

indeed there is no qualitative difference between the two.

i'd add, whenever you think something bad about someone.. when some road maniac annoys you, and in your anger you wish they'd crash, are you then a killer, too?

Shift, I got the sarcasm, doesn't stop it from being a) disturbing in the context of this thread (considering the first post) and b) completely unhelpful if the TP wanted any reasonable replies as to why his/her moral outlook could be based on flawed reasoning.

There is one very large difference between the aforementioned two and killing in dreams.

The reality of shooting someone in videogames or thinking 'I wish they would crash' is almost incomparibly feeble when put face-to-face with the reality of killing inside a dream, which for all intents and purposes, is as real as anything.

Now, once again, whether or not the knowledge of not actually killing makes this morally acceptable or not, is up to you. I don't really have much opinion on the subject.

Oh. I really don't care about other peoples' morals, that's probably why I said it.

      Okay, buddy.

FIRST of all, what proof do you have of this? Nothing, that's what. Until it's proven to me that this is true you're are nothing but a troll that's trying to feel some sort of power by scaring us. You've obviously never had a Lucid Dream, and if you have this is CLEARLY what YOU'VE done to a DC, and now you trying to get rid of that guilt by saying we all do it. But you want to know something? You don't know if what we do in dreams harms others. If you say you do, then you're a bigger nut than I thought.

Flame me if you want, I'm glad I said it. This is trolling at it's FINEST. Shift, you should've locks this instead of moving it.

I think it's fine to have morals open to debate, especially if people keep it up at the top by contributing to the post- which means they have opinions that they want to be heard. The only reason I don't like the OP is because there are so many other threads about this around DV that it was unnecessary to post yet another one, and the statement of fact but lack of evidence is of course illaudable- as it would be for any side of the argument. On the other hand, I needed a good laugh so I must commend him.
