Can you visit a past life in a dream?

I tried to do some meditation to induce past Life recall it did not work well, in fact it seemed to have a negative draining effect upon waking. So I abandoned it. I have had dreams that seem to recall an earlier life but how can I be sure. Are our past life memories if we have them stored in our unconscious mind and accessible to visit during lucid dream state?

I don't believe in reincarnation, but even if I did, I couldn't tell you a definite way to visit past lives. The reason being that we have all dreamed about something that doesn't fit into our lives. Does that mean that it must have been a dream about a past life? Or was it just a bunch of random dream material all lumped together to form an unknown dream element? It's literally impossible to say.

I believe our past lives are encoded in our DNA and are viewable by the select person when the time is right.

Sure. But it's understanding and being able to interpret what you experience that will make a difference. Most people need a little help in that area. That's why those who Journey or work in the Dreamtime do so with the help of their Spirit Guides and Allies. They can help translate for you and bring clarity.

Lol...but each consciousness has minor DNA details encoded very deep in our DNA.

I frequently have dreams like this. In fact, the majority of my dreams don't involve me in the slightest. I usually see these dreams from another person's perspective, too.

Well, right off the bat you made the assumption that people believe in past lives and word it in a way as if someone would have the 100% correct answer for you when that really is impossible. When there are literally an infinite amount of different possibilities for things such as how life came to exist, universe started, consciousness works, etc. why do people have to narrow it down to 1 solution and state it as an absolute as if they are correct. Right there you can rule out all except for 1 opinion on the issue (unless some sort of synthesis). There really is no reason that our consciousness NEEDS to perpetuate on or be reincarnated (although it IS still a possibility) when it could just end abruptly, go to another dimension or other similar explanation, etc. (those aren't the best examples I was just showing that there are many).

And personally, if past lives did exist I highly doubt that anyone would be able to recall it from some part of their brain as all their thoughts and existence would likely break down to nothingness or a mass of particles or whatever way you want to explain it between cycles of existence.
This entire reality is SELF REFLECTION. You reflect your essence and project it onto the universe.

I am actually not completely sure if I believe in past lives. I was just curious what others thought of them and if they thought it was possible to visit these past memories in our dreams.

geez! Lighten up! of course not everybody believes in reincarnation, so for who ever passes by here and doesn't, can just respect the dude's beliefs and move on!

I think its a Legit question, I mean, With the power our mind has (have you heard we only use 20% of our brains in our WHOLE LIFE!!!?) and the capability of Lucid Dream and Astral Projection, Clairvoyance and all those amazing "little" things, it be just very close minded to believe that when we die its all over! even if its passing to another dimension, like you say, or whatever; their has to be something else... (I think, anyways) and its a very very human response to want to know, about our past lives (assuming its real)...

I think LD takes us to a deper level in our mind that we couldn't reach in the waking life, so if we were to understand completely all the laws in that "realm" I think there could be a possibilty of finding out some answers within ourselves... and just like i read in this same thread (sorry don't remember who said it) everything will come to you on its own time.... when you're ready, you'll know whatever you need to know...

      ok ok i'm done

      I believe it....

I believe that we all reincarnate dozens or even hundreds of times. Things that happen in past lives affect our lives today. For instance if you drowned in a previous life you might be afraid of water now. Or if your spouse in a previous life cheated, you fear infidelity in your current relationship. If you didn't resolve your issue in your past life you'll need to resolve it now. You need to understand the root of these fears in order to change them.

I think you began to have dreams about your past lives because you opened yourself up through meditation. You set the intention to discover your past lives.

Sometimes when I think about it for a few days and set the intention before going to sleep I can dream about my past lives. In my most recent experience I felt myself flying up & backwards (which happens when I go back) and appearing next to a man. I knew the man was me. I felt as if I were just watching the scene unfold. Another man was there, and he was trying to get the me/guy to unfold his arm. Before he did I realized the me/guy was on heroin. When he finally extended his arm you could see the needle/track marks. I left the dream then.

I've had other similiar experiences, all with different people and times. I can tell these from regular dreams because I always fly (usually up & backwards) and it's very realistic as if it's really happening. I usually can't get these out of my head and keep seeing flashes of the dream when I'm awake. I always know when it's me I'm watching, even though it's not the current me.

Since you're putting the energy out there to discover your past lives I'm sure that's what you're seeing. Just try to focus on that before going to sleep!

That does not really make any sense,if you do not solve these problems in other lives they keep adding up. Pretty soon you will be really paranoid, and there will be ALOT of paranoid people. Alot of people die not fixing their problems, and with no way to know the problems, you can't fix them.

I don't think it happens with every situation in every life. But I do believe there are issues that can be passed on.

dude, sounds like you might have been playing assassin's creed... anyway, memories of past lives (from my knowledge) does not reside within your DNA, isn't it somewhere in the astral plane? lol. never mind me, i don't even know why I posted this in the first place...

I've had the same happen to me as well.

Normally, my dreams never evoke any emotion in me, but these past dreams felt so real and soothing, that it made me wonder about possible past lives.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I do believe in it 100%, but neither am I saying that I don't believe in it, hence my username. But, they felt so much at home to me, and I daresay, it's something I've never felt before, even in everyday life.

What's odd is that the place is recurring, sometimes by itself or with people. Or the same people recurr, but not the place. Like these two aspects are spread all over my dreams, people I've never met, places I've never seen. It's all really strange, yet soothing.

So I say, you never really know for sure. It's part of the mystery that is life!
