There are just too many conflicting reports from too many expert APers. Some say you need the silver cord or you won't make it back, others have never seen it.

Most would say they encounter entities both good and bad. I've encountered some things I've suspected of being more than just a DC in my dreams, and they match pretty much what the APers describe. I've read tons of identical experiences in DJs of people. I'm not saying that can't happen, but if it can, it doesn't happen exclusively to APers.

But just because someone encounters an Angel doesn't mean it is one literally. An angel just happens to be the closest concept or comparison that particular person can make with what they're encountering, something completely alien. It's like using a metaphor to describe something you've never seen before.

If you look at it that way, then all the conflicting OBE reports all fit together nicely.

Which is the reason I think Shadow People are real. Because everyone seeing exactly the same thing just doesn't fit it with any known dream or hallucination scheme. The religious should be seeing angels, nerds seeing their bullies, New age seeing dream guides, dirty old men seeing hot young girls. But nobody every wakes up to find those standing in their rooms. Instead it's always shadow people and they always look the same. Act the same, without variation. No way that could possibly be any fabrication of the mind and be so consistent.
