      Just sayin'.

Hmm... that's strange... I assume that's directed at me, but if you had actually bothered to read my post rather than take one quote way out of context, you would have realized that I actually look for the logcal explanation as well as alternative theories... to dismiss valid scientific interpretations would be equally closed-minded...

Astonishingly, you STILL seem to not understand where I stand on this issue. Once again, I am neutral. I consider both logical/scientific explanations as well as more obscure theories, then make an informed opinion or put it in my 'unexplained' box. Simple as that.
So I had my first OBE the other day... I was completely beside myself!

Another experience I had, I woke up one morning a few years ago and felt better than I ever had in my life. It was the most intense feeling of well being and happiness I had ever experienced, I was practically vibrating with the feeling.

That alone struck me very odd.

But when I left for work still feeling strangely good, the 4 people at the bus stop just stared at me while we waited. I didn't think anything of it, but when I got on the bus, everyone on it was staring at me as I took an empty seat near the back of the bus.

An for the entire time I was on the bus, every person stared at me shamelessly with their mouths hanging open. But it was more than just staring, they were completely mesmerized, and I don't even think they realized they were doing it. Of course I felt so good, the staring didn't bother me at all and I just let them drink it up.

Neither my parents nor the guys at work reacted to that strange feeling which stopped sometime after 11:00.

THose people's behavior in response (couldn't have been coincidence) to my strangely intense mood was completely abnormal. Those people broke every social rule. You just don't sit turned around backwards staring at the guy in the seat behind you on the bus without saying anything like that. Especially when he's the biggest guy on the bus. But everyone was doing it, everyone was turned around backwards in their seats for a 20 minute bus ride, they watched me till I got off and even as the bus pulled away. If I would have told them to follow me, I think they would have done so without a word.

I can't even begin to draw any conclusions from that, I can only describe what happened that day. But I can't help but think that's what it must have been like to be Jesus, and the funny part is, at the time it happened I had shoulder length brown hair and a beard, so I can just imagine what some of those people must have been thinking.

Valid scientific interpretations eh?? Nothing like loaded words.

First you are just saying basically, so really you are just saying nothing.

      Valid by who?

      Scientific by who?

Interpretation is about the only part of that sentence you got right.
This was that cult, and the prisoners said it had always existed and always would exist, hidden in distant wastes and dark places all over the world until the time when the great priest Cthulhu, from his dark house in the mighty city of R'lyeh under the waters, should rise and bring the earth again beneath his sway.

      Stupid questions are stupid.

      Scientific isn't a who, it's a what.

of, relating to, or exhibiting the methods or principles of science

And I reacted to the whole of your post, not only to the last bit. It sounded very emotional about the possible occult interpretation, check your first line:

Maybe I was wrong and you're simply emotional, hard to judge by the forum.

Sorry, but I took nothing out of context. I simply took the statement you chose to emphasis and demonstrate the rather obvious - yet neccesary - flipside.

Valid in the sense that the avaliable scientific rationale provides sufficient evidence, understanding in context correlation to be taken as the most probable explanation (see the Wild/OBE debate).

In which case my sentence makes perfect sense.

Scientific by who? Some kid with a lab kit in his basement or a scientist?

Again you fail to understand the meaning of scientific.

An interpretation is scientific, is plausible, if it's coherent with our scientific understandings, understandings which have been built, tested and upgraded with the scientific method over decades and decades and thus are much much better than made up shit at getting things right.

You just want to argue for the fun of it?

      sci·en·tif·ic (sn-tfk)
      adj.
Of, relating to, or employing the methodology of science.

My point is half these people claiming to be "scientific" are nothing but a hoax.

I notice when someone asks you if you understand something you post the definition of it.

Is that a problem? To define the word in the most specific way possible?
It's not my problem he doesn't understand what the words mean.

I don't need to prove my understanding of anything to anyone here.

They can both be a hoax, I am speaking in general.

It's not a problem but there are better ways to show your understanding than a dictionary definition.

The problem I've noticed from a lot of people is changing the definitions of words to fit ones agendas.. So I often post the word and definition so they can see the correct usage.

I can't believe this, you are a fucking idiot.

First, the definition of scientific does in no way contradict my explanations. Second, I had just posted that exact same definition first in my previous post which you dismissed by repeating what I had just replied to. And then I'm the one who doesn't understand? You're not counter-arguing anything, I'm done here.
      - Are you an idiot?

      I feel your pain dude.
Having a reasonable discussion with DeathCell is like trying to teach a fish to play the harpsichord. I tried, I failed, I wanted to headbut the wall till by brain was crushed... as it would have been more pleasant.
It's more frustrating that discovering you have a chasity belt on, in a hareem of sex starved super models.

There is an old saying that I decided to fall back on in these situations:

Don't waste your time arguing with idiots... they'll drag you down to their level, then they'll beat you with experience.

Walk away, put it down to a lesson learnt, and take a deep breath.
I personally no longer even read DeathCells posts... (actually, sometimes I can't help but peek, it's a bit like that horrible urge to look at a motorway accident)
Although i'd put money on him being unable to resist replying to mine, probably using the quote button far too much, maybe calling me really offensive, and probably being twice as rude back...
He may even put in the dictionary definition of idiot too.

Still, on a positive note. I find that the idiots in the world, make it easier to spot the people who arn't. As in this case, I now realise, having been in your shoes myself, that you're a decent guy.

Well done for trying, but seriously walk away, it's like trying to teach ringworm how to perform shakespear.

You guys are a bunch of idiots, and spaceexplorer is nothing but a suck up to anyone who shares similar views.

You claim I don't understand the meaning of the word scientific when I do.

I didn't say you didn't understand the meaning of the word..

You are a fucking fool, maybe you should stop assuming things I never said.

ASSUME ASS OUT OF U AND ME

You don't even care about arguing about anything, you just want to attack people you feel as though they must be unintelligent because they don't believe this world is completely devoid of a connection.

I probably did better in school than half of you!

And sorry for quoting you Spacequester, instead of just making things up and attacking things you didn't say... That's more your style.
