First I'm at a camping center with some friends. There are also children there. Outside there is a small cottage, very old with gray, slightly rotten wood. Some of the us sleep there and there is a stove. I guess I'm looking for something or cleaning, I'm going trough stuff there and putting them in their place. There is a stove and there's flames coming out of it every now and then. When I look around I see three other fireplaces that are leaking flames and smoke. I'm surprised the place hasn't burned down long ago. Second I'm walking from the center of a city, down some stairs and towards another neighborhood. There is a Hindu monk riding a bike past me. He smiles and I recognize him and smile back. He is from a monastery where i sometimes go and have some philosophical talks or something. We happen to pass some Christian monks at the same time, carrying coffin. One of them reminisces about when they were a small order like the Hindus are now, and he had to carry coffins by himself up the stairs. Third I'm at home in a room with my wife. My parents and brothers are in the living room watching TV. They are watching the lottery. My father gets excited and proclaims he has won 30 000. It's not the biggest price but it's pretty good. They start watching a movie. It's some scifi from a food author so we decide to watch it, too. I'm in the movie, I'm a young man who lives alone but seems to be pretty sociable. It's a small settlement on an otherwise uninhabited planet. An old man has just died next door. Apparently everybody knew him, but they were all expecting him to die pretty soon anyway. I'm walking with a bunch on guys close to the border of the settlement. We are wondering about the slow progress of the habitation endeavor. There's a lot of technology that should have arrived by this point. First we think we should investigate outside the settlement area. I tell the others it would be dangerous and there is some rule forbidding it. They abandon the idea and leave, and I go look outside the settlement alone. There is another city just like ours. It's almost exactly the same but some of the people behave a little differently. A woman who is shy in my city is very loud and talkative in this one. The old man has just died here, too. I continue to the same direction and come to a third city, also identical. But here, the old man is still alive, but just about to die. People are gathered to a center square to see him for the last time. Then I remember the story, I've read the book the movie is based on. The cities are actually on a planet that is completely livable. They are there for studying how much of peoples personalities are coded in genes. The people in the three cities are genetically identical, but they have been incubated in different laboratories.
Last night I didn't remember any dreams. This time I remember many of them, even though they seem a bit fragmented and inconsequential. They all seem to be connected but I remember having them at different times during the night. First I'm going to buy airplane tickets. A friend of mine is in a line where they sell some very cheap on sale tickets. She gets one and tells me to get one as well. I wait in the line untill it I get to the cashier, but there is some crowd there and a woman cuts me of. I call my friend and tell that I won't get the ticket in time, the plane is already leaving and I have to take the next one. She is already on the plane. Second I have a room in a large house, like a camping center. I'm charging my laptop in my room. As I wait I'm watching something on the laptop, can't remember what. A car pulls in on the driveway and I go out. Third There is another building on the same yard. A friend of mine has a room there and it seems more cozy. I want to move there so I try to find reception. Fourth Then I go to a concert. It's in a third building on the same yard. The person on the stage has a thick balloon. When she hits it with her hand it sounds like a drum. There are some small nubs on one side and tapping them makes a higher drum-like sound. The music itself sounds like a hundred jungle drums.
First I’m in a city, walking a road downhill. There is someone else with me. I hear a woman scream down the hill. It’s cold and slippery and she has fallen. She complains about her wrist, but her elbow is dislocated. I pull it a bit and it pops back in. Second I’m in a forest, walking on a path. There is a camping centre, I apparently have a room there, and I go in. I share my room with another person, vaguely familiar. I remember a task that I have, there are five rings that I need to destroy, and I need to do something after that. I have already found three, so there are two left. This is some kind of a game. I notice one of the five people carrying the rings. I grab his hand and see that he has several rings. I recognize the one that I need, though, and just grab them all. I run outside and throw the other rings around to slow the person down. There is a clay oven and I throw the ring there. When the person reaches me, the ring is already gone, and he seems a bit disappointed that he lost it so easily. So there is still one ring left. I don’t remember who has it, but I have written the names down on a piece of paper in my back. I return to my room to have a look.
Again, no memories in the morning or during the night. Once I got up I for some reason thought about a dog and that was the strand that pulled all these memories back to my consciousness. First I just remembered the dogs, but I was able to recount the dream backwards once I got it. It's kind of interesting, it was still all there. Not locked away or anything, just lost, nothing connected to the memories. I suspect this is what usually happens. We are hiking or such in a forest with a few friends. At the end of the trail there is a place for changing clothes and even a temporary shower that pumps cold ground water. I don't want to take a shower there because it would be really cold. I go to our car, where most of the others are waiting. We drive in the forest and there is a swamp. The road seems to just stop there, but when we try going forward, there is an invisible bridge over the swamp. This seems kind of weird to me and I can't really believe it, but then I just dismiss it. It's only built half way, there is a large yellow building machine blocking the way, so we turn around. We find ourselves next to a guest house type building. The building is closed and we don't know any other way out. I go have a look. There is a building now, that we need to find a way through. It's on a hillside so there are two ground floors, and I realize that we need to go up a floor to get to the other side. I return to the others to share my findings. The others are eating something, we still have enough food left to find our way out. I eat some meat and bread. The meat is pretty terrible, hard to chew. Someone doesn't want us to succeed, so he sends he's dogs to spy on us. The dogs run past us but don't look very scary. They do eat some of our food, however, and spoil the rest. I bit stupid of us to have left it on the ground.
I remember a lot this time. When I woke up most of it was gone but I had a few minutes to fish around and remembered a lot more. I had the alarm a bit later that usual and I remember waking up when the alarm should have rung and going to sleep again, continuing the same dream. Usually I wake up at the same time every morning. This might be useful later. I also decided to wake up 15 minutes before the alarm and that also worked. Rating a Knife I was on a trip to a forest somewhere far away. There were two cabins. In the other cabin someone had tried to light up a portable stove, but had left the kerosene bottle open and the gas had exploded, burning some hair. I had my own kerosene bottle and poured some to the stove. I didn't light it yet, though. I returned to my own cabin. I was rating the knives I had used during the trip. The ratings would then go on the internet. There was one I hadn't used, it had been lost when I asked for it. The owner said that it was in a really bad shape. He gave the knife to me and it had no handle. I went outside and tried slicing wood with it by hitting it with a piece of wood. It worked really well and I though that it actually was a pretty good chisel. I remember that the slices look almost too perfect. The owner came out and I told him that it was a good chisel. We were on a bus, leaving. I was standing near the front of the bus listening to someone give instructions. She told us that the weather was different than when we had left. It was raining. I wen't home and was alone there. I thought about going to get some candy but it was too late, it was dark outside. The Barbarian Invasion I was still at home but I was thinking about some game where I attacked a walled city with bats. I couldn't get in the city but the walls were breaking. I was commanding the troops attacking the city from a third person point of view, but aware that I was in my home at the same time (in the dream home). There was a news report about the city. A clan of barbarians had attacked and destroyed the walls. This was a normal dynamic, the people in the city build walls and the barbarians destroyed them. They didn't wand to go inside because that would risk war, but they would ride around the boundary and yell nasty things. There was some ethnic minority in the city that the barbarians wanted dead and if they saw one of those people they would throw spears and such. I was now in the city, in first person, and was yelling back at the barbarians. I took a rock and threw it at one of them. It turned out to be their leader, and I hit him in the head. He crossed the border to come look at me. I tried not to look scared, but he was on horseback and looked huge.
