    Desperation Happiness

Taking a page from others' DJs:

    Regular text is non-lucid dreaming.

    Purple is lucid dreaming.

    Italics are side-notes and observations.

I'm a novice oneironaut. Some things I need to work on: Consistent reality checks, remaining lucid, continual awareness, formulating and keeping intentions.

The name of this Dream Journal came from a dream I had half a decade ago. Almost from a scene from FFVII I came up on a huge sword in a cliff and somehow I just knew the name of the sword was Desperation Happiness. It's stuck with me ever since.

    1. Watching ... TV... dream.

I was watching TV with my family (as I used to do before I moved to Taiwan) including some extended family and a girl I didn't know. Then I started trying to make energy balls between my hands and suddenly I knew I was dreaming. I sat where I was and looked around, wrung my hands a bit to stabilize the dream. This seemed to put the dream "more in focus" the brightness visibly changed. Then I got up to explore, trying not to get too excited and wake myself up. That happened anyway of course and I woke.

This is my second night trying to get back into Lucid Dreaming. Rereading Stephen LaBerge's Exploring Lucid Dreaming. It's a good sign that I'm not completely hopeless.
    2. Another rude awakening.

I was courting a girl who was younger than me. Maybe 20-21 y.o. She wanted nothing to do with me, but I was pretty in to her. I showed off my ability to stop time and seemingly teleport (she didn't know I was stopping time) and impressed her. Then I found her laying on some grass on a hillside. I lay down next to her and she curls up on my right side. She says "I was so tired, but I'm not anymore." Then we kiss a few times, slowly, tentatively, humid breath on each others faces. It was wonderful!

Then I'm searching for her at her place of work, a HUGE music store. I find her a floor down after a covert nod in the direction from a coworker. She gets PISSED that I came there, she said that she said we'd hang out between 10am and 8pm so why did I have to go looking for her. Then she kicks me out, I steal a picture that is supposed to be really well done, so I can draw it myself on a tablet PC and impress her again. Then I wake up.

    3. A jumbled mess called Dream Recall.

I was new to town. My friends and I just moved came in on a bus and found our new apartment. Then I'm at a school where I presumably work. Then I'm talking to a Korean guy who wants me to drive him somwwhere the next day at 5:30am and make sure he survives, is okay (bodyguard type work). Because his girlfriend's mom will be doing an experiment on him and his girlfriend and maybe others. Something to do with increasing their memory. After he walks away I turn to someone who knows me and he says "Oh are you done mumbling to yourself now?" So I ask if he can see the guy as he walks away and he says there's no one there. So I believe him that I was hallucinating and tell him what I was 'talking' about.

Another dream I was god-like with telekinetic powers and I could make people say whatever I wanted.
    4. Lucid dream adventure! (low control though) and a FA

Before the lucid dream started I just remember fragments. Something about eating four-leaf clovers in my bathroom, but I didn't mean to, it was just habit. I was supposed to let someone else eat them. Eating the four-leaf clovers granted superman-like powers.

The next memory I have is being lucid in the hallway outside my room. I wanted to do something other than flying around looking for women so I decided to talk to my parents, I walked to their rooma and asked them what they thought of L. As in, what do you think of me dating her/marrying her. My father said "Well she's not who I'd go with, but she's nice." My mother said "I think you want to have her goals, like her double major and you call her everyday, well you don't call her but you ask her questions."

While they were talking I decided in my mind I'd like to try spinning and teleporting somewhere, I've never done that in a dream. So I started spinning and everything went black. I thought about going to see M, but settled on a wooden cottage. I stopped spinning and came to in an attic where a little boy was playing with a dollhouse cottage with figures in it. He started telling a story with it and his parents were there. I asked if it was haunted and made the shoe toy float (I think it was supposed to represent the mom).

Then I flew straight up through the ceiling (I decided on doing this earlier too). Now I'm among the stars in mostly darkness, I pass over water and the reflection of stars. Then a giant cell phone appears and I can scroll through a student story on the screen with my mind/perspective. It's the beginning with the author's names and I try to read it but it keeps switching perspective like it's in a mirror. I decide I can always check the phone when I wake up so I continue on. Then it starts going black and I start to wake up so I try to fly fast and teleport again but through my eyelids I see red, like light pouring through.

Then I experience one heck of a false awakening!

I awake super tired, it's hard to remember the dream but I lay still and piece it together. I'm still too tired to write it down and consider briefly using my cell phone to record it via voice. I hear movement in the hall. My father is dragging a chair from the closet to the bathroom and left the door opposite mine open. Inside is a two-headed mannequin with a shawl/shirt on. I ask why he has such a frightening mannequin. He opens the other closet and asks me to do something with the car somethings, because they look like whips.

Finally I wake up for real and it takes a moment to realize the first time was a false awakening.
    5. Gotta find a blue whale!

I had to find a blue whale in order to defeat some bad guys. I could fly and mostly had telekinesis. But as much as I tried I couldn't create an air bubble around me so I could go searching for the blue whale under water. And I refused to take one from sea world. Also I was on school property and there wasn't many places for a Blue Whale to hide.
    6. Dream Fragment.

I was a new super hero. Young, relative to the older heroes. Someone evil was standing high on the ruins of the Eiffel Tower (how I got to France, I don't know) when I flew up there she was not alone, a lot of other super villains were there too. It seems we were to have an all out brawl. I defeated Magneto by making an electro-magnetic field around him which he couldn't break. I defeated Juggernaught with a wicked elbow to his plated head, leaving a dent.

I don't remember much else, but there was a whole epic before the Eiffel Tower, that may have even been Lucid at the time. Something about hiding and collecting resources. Maybe it was post-apocalyptic. I'm not sure.
    7. Dungeon Crawler (First entry at DV)

I was in a fantasy world. Like Elder Scrolls Oblivion or Demon's Souls. My dog Bear was with me, roaming around the caverns mostly out of sight. An old man was doing experiments with rocks there and quantum entanglement, at least to the best of my knowledge that's what he was doing. He caused an earthquake which shook the caves and made rocks fall everywhere. I tried to use my powers to keep the cave together but I couldn't keep it up. I couldn't find Bear but we ran deeper into the cave through an ornamental gateway into a tunnel or hallway. I didn't have any weapons but found a health potion in a glass ball within metal grating attached to a chain. I didn't need the health right away and decided I could use it as a weapon as the metal around the glass was pointy. The dream turned even more like a video game when we attacked and defeated a few monsters. I was legitimately anxious about these fights since I had no real weapons. I seem to remember seeing a life bar and going 3rd person at this time. Shortly after the fighting started I woke up.
