Taking a page from others' DJs:

    Regular text is non-lucid dreaming.

    Purple is lucid dreaming.

    Italics are side-notes and observations.

I'm a novice oneironaut. Some things I need to work on: Consistent reality checks, remaining lucid, continual awareness, formulating and keeping intentions.

The name of this Dream Journal came from a dream I had half a decade ago. Almost from a scene from FFVII I came up on a huge sword in a cliff and somehow I just knew the name of the sword was Desperation Happiness. It's stuck with me ever since.

    1. Making a movie and a single player D&D game.

First I was at a college frat type party. It was a pool party, and I was 'lucky' to be there. The new recruits were floating on floaty things on the pool and the goal was not to be flipped over, so I lay there very still and never got flipped over. But instead of being praised for the smart thinking they secretly made fun of me. Then someone mentioned how I needed 104 FB comments in order to stay at the party which gave me an idea for a new movie.

The cool buy nerdy male lead some how makes it to a party where the popular girl he likes is, but he needs to keep his FB popularity up in order to stay at the party and get noticed by the girl, so his cute but unnoticed best friend girl helps him to do that and antics ensue at the party.

Then I dreamt I was at the library and found a book called something like "RPG hero something something" and I had heard of it but never read it. I opened it and all it was was chapters of maps of a fictional world. I found out you make your character and then read/play through the story like in D&D except the book is the the DM and you play by yourself. In my dream I thought that sounded fun and after I woke up it still sounded fun, but as I think about it it wouldn't really work/wouldn't be any better than playing a video game.

    2. Watching ... TV... dream.

I was watching TV with my family (as I used to do before I moved to Taiwan) including some extended family and a girl I didn't know. Then I started trying to make energy balls between my hands and suddenly I knew I was dreaming. I sat where I was and looked around, wrung my hands a bit to stabilize the dream. This seemed to put the dream "more in focus" the brightness visibly changed. Then I got up to explore, trying not to get too excited and wake myself up. That happened anyway of course and I woke.

This is my second night trying to get back into Lucid Dreaming. Rereading Stephen LaBerge's Exploring Lucid Dreaming. It's a good sign that I'm not completely hopeless.
