    No dream

I am so mad at school right now. Not only do I have a ton of work and no time for anything fun, but it is ruining my dream recall. Today my alarm went off at 6:15 like every day. I woke up and I didn't even have the slightest image of a dream. I laid there for a second while the radio played, trying to conjure up any image from my dream, no matter how small. I couldn't think of ANYTHING. I got up and turned off my alarm (it's on the other side of my room so I don't just fall asleep) and decided to crawl into bed again for a moment to try and remember my dream. Suddenly it was 7:00 and I still had not even one image from a dream. I was also late and had to rush to get ready and to my carpool before we'd be late.

My recall is pretty weird in that a lot of days I'll remember a single image or just a general idea of the dream in the morning and then remember more and more as the day goes on. Sometimes this even works when I don't remember anything at all. Sadly, this was not the case. I remember nothing from last night.

If anyone happens to read this, I was wondering if anyone had advice on keeping your dream recall up on school days. I remembered two in pretty good detail each day over the weekend (and last Thursday when I had a day off from school) but I can barely remember anything on school days. Even in the past when I've kept dream journals for weeks I would barely remember anything on weekdays. Is there anything specific I could do to help with this? I'm never going to make any progress if I can only recall dreams 2/7 days a week.

First of all, i'm going to say 1 word. Relax. No need to get stressed over one night without a recall. There are times when people have problems with recall and getting lucid and are called dry spells if i am not mistaken. I didn't recall a single thing either last night after around 3 months of stable recall.

I also think that the time when i go to bed effects me a lot. Like for instance, it's 2am now and i am about to pass out so if i add up a restless sleep, i'm not gonna remember much tomorrow, unless i sleep until 12:00 and remember the long REM dreams from around 9:00 till noon. Atm my sleep cycle is ruined, but when i was going to bed at 11:00 pm my recall was a lot better.

School didn't start for me yet, but i know that if i want a good recall when it does, i have to get my sleep cycle fixed and go to bed at the same time (early) everyday. As much as i remember keeping a DJ while going to school, i simply set my alarm half an hour aearlier so i could dwell on dreams and have time to write them down before doing my regular stuff. It's a pain, but it's worth it. Don't let school mess up your recall.

Now to be honest i'm so sleepy that i forgot what i was writing about, so let me actualy give you an answer for what you can do. Basicly, never ever think that you can only recall dreams 2/7 days a week. It's all selfhypnosis (i can't find the word but you know what i mean, english isn't my main language either ). I probably shouldn't think that my recall sucks when i go to bed late either. Just as people say alcohol ruins your chances of being lucid, while my 4 lucids that i had were all under (mostly) heavy alcohol while i gave no thoughts to dreams. So i realised, i was stressing out too much. So simply let it go, believe you can recall everything no matter when or where. Also if you know your dream signs, run through the usual people you dream about (or places etc..) when you wake up, if you don't get any pictures instantly. A lot of times when i do that, it takes me about 10 seconds to realise i just woke up from a dream.

I hope this helped in any way, if not sorry
I'm off to bed, wish you good recall!

Yeah just dont stress out and ur fine. Besides, recall is something that comes and goes. Everyone loses it once in a while

Thanks both of you so much. I'm trying not to stress and I've been repeating the mantra "I will remember my dreams, even on school nights" all day to try and make myself believe I can. I think a lot of it is that I sleep less, even though I go to bed at the same time. I've only been in school for a couple of weeks but I will get used to it soon enough. I mostly just wanted to write as complete of an entry as possible.
