    1. (23/10/11) - Rushed...

      by , 10-23-2011 at 06:31 PM (LiveInTheDream's DJ v2.5)
Slept through the alarm this morning and had to rush when I finally did wake up, so my dream recall is nada.

Just didn't want to forget to write in my DJ for the sake of keeping it a habit. Better luck next time

    2. (19/10/11) - Again...

      by , 10-19-2011 at 10:01 PM (LiveInTheDream's DJ v2.5)
Much the same as last night, I stayed up too late, and so I fell asleep too quickly to effectively MILD. I was just starting on the re-envision step when I fell asleep...never getting to the reinforce step. As such I didn't lucid dream or have great recall.

      1) I was in Israel, with some random people. That's all I can remember for sure.

AUDIO-INDUCED LUCID DREAM EXPERIMENT ENTRY #5

      Day #6 (LUCID [ish]):

~This time I actually recognized the MP3 from inside my dream. I'm not sure what was going on in the dream beforehand, but all of a sudden a DC I was talking to stopped and looked around. "Hear that?" he asked. I stopped and listened as well. "That's..." he began. "That's your lucid dream induction MP3!" Unfortunately, the mention of it brought reality into focus all too quickly, and although I now knew I was dreaming, the suddenness of it woke me up.

I think perhaps the MP3 I'm using may have too much variance in volume. It begins fairly quietly, but then all of a sudden it gets quite loud, which means I pretty much have to give up the opening sequence (which has most of the 'you are dreaming' and 'do a reality check now') or risk waking up from the loudness of the latter part.

Personally I dislike the thought of switching MP3's again now that I just got to where I can recognize this one, but whatever...if it doesn't work, I must revise my plan and try again. Maybe the music should be eliminated entirely...revert to just a voice telling me to reality check and all that--and at a consistent volume that won't wake me up at some point.

AUDIO-INDUCED LUCID DREAM EXPERIMENT ENTRY #4

      Day #5 (HALF-LUCID):

~Had a small degree of success last night. I didn't wake up during the MP3 that I had set, but I know it made it through to me in my dreams.

I was fighting a DC hand-to-hand (he attacked me for unknown reasons) and losing...he had me pinned on the ground, and he was pulling out a knife, when all of a sudden, the world around me grew clearer, and I felt empowered. I swung my legs back, landing a strike on the DC's head before he could shove the knife in my back, and then I pushed off the ground hard enough to make me fly up and land on my feet. We continued to fight, but I was the faster and more powerful one, now. I got the knife out of the DC's hand and took him out after a short while.

I had a foggy idea that I was dreaming, but not enough for me to comfortably say I went lucid. Still, I'm getting there! Maybe I should listen to the MP3 a few times during the day and train myself to reality check to it...I just know I'm going to start having lucids from this soon!

AUDIO-INDUCED LUCID DREAM EXPERIMENT ENTRY #3

      Day #4 (NO LUCID):
~Right idea, wrong time. I set up an MP3 (that simply told me to do reality checks) to go off at 4:50am. Headphones were wired to both sides of my bed to preserve the stereo effect and volume was tested before going to sleep to make sure it was easily audible, but not disruptive to sleep.

I ended up waking up naturally around 4:45, so of course I wasn't asleep when the MP3 began to play, which ruined that. So I got up and reset the alarm to start playing the MP3 again at 5:50. However, in that hour, I fell asleep and woke back up...just in time to hear the audio start playing again.

By then it was too late to really try again, since I was going to have to get up early anyway. I really like the idea...I just need to find out how to catch myself when I'm asleep!

AUDIO-INDUCED LUCID DREAM EXPERIMENT ENTRY #2

Ok, I haven't stopped experimenting with this technique (which I'm now not so sure should be labeled CAN-WILD...more like EILD, since I modified things a bit) and I'm going to go on with trying an alarm that will play a sound sometime early in the morning that will cause me to lucid dream without WBTB. I have determined that this is the best possible way for me because it requires no daytime work and only a few minutes of bedtime preparation, plus I don't have to lose any sleep or sleep in late, so I can lucid dream every night once I get this down.

Since I've been gone a few days from the forums, I'll catch you up with a summary of the experiment thus far:

      DAY 1: (NO LUCID)
~Determined that WBTB with the alarm woke me up far too much for method to be practical.

      DAY 2: (NO LUCID)
~Slept through all alarms, although computer records proved them to have gone off properly.

      DAY 3: (NO LUCID)
~Heard alarms while still in a dream; DC told me to listen up because he heard my lucid dreaming alarm playing...but I woke myself up rather than did an RC.

Tonight (Day 4) I'm going to try something slightly different. I think the alarm sound is just too closely related with waking up for me to use it effectively as a lucid dreaming tool. Instead I'm going to try an induction mp3 with frequently-playing recordings of a voice saying 'This is a dream', 'do a reality check now', etc. Instead of the flash-based timer I linked to in my last entry, I'll be using Cool Timer since it better suits my needs. I can set it to go off at a certain time and play the MP3, which I have listened to many times and very strongly associate with lucid dreams, and reality checking (rather than waking up).

The biggest challenge will be getting me to hear the MP3 properly. I've been using a set up where I run a headphone extension cord from my computer and then stick the headphones to the side of my bed (the bed frame is metal and the headphones are strangely magnetic ), but that was just for an alarm sound; I didn't need precision audio. This is different. I'll need to make sure that I can understand the voice without having it wake me up from being so loud.

      Could take some experimenting...

Wow...I was so close to WILDing again. All was going fairly well, but not perfect. I woke up later than I meant to, didn't make it as far in the attempt on the floor, but when I got back in bed I was getting quite close to being there. The HI were growing more realistic and frequent, and I could feel myself getting quite close to sleep. Then...

      KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!!!

      Ugh...try again later, I guess

    8. Welcome!

      by , 06-10-2010 at 07:59 PM (LiveInTheDream's DJ v2.5)

Thank you for stopping by my second DJ (or Dream Journal, for those of you who are new to lucid dreaming)!

I hope you enjoy reading of my adventures in the dream world, and possibly even learn a thing or two from my discoveries and/or mistakes.
My last dream journal had an overwhelmingly massive (and positive) response; it is my hope that this one will be every bit as successful, if not moreso!

As you have no doubt noticed, the new DJ has also brought along with it a lot of new looks as well. I've changed my avatar/sig to match the new DV scheme, there are now widgets in the sidebar you can use for easier navigation, and organization of posts and comments in general has been improved as well.

Please leave comments, positive or (constructively) negative! I always enjoy hearing people's thoughts on this kind of thing.

Enjoy your stay in my DJ!
      (Hey, that rhymes!)
