Date: December 14 ||| Time Block: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM ||| Length: 5 minutes. ||| Lucidity: level 2. ||| Entry Type: DILD ||| Major Methods: WBTB, MILD

Methods: woke up, went on the computer for about two hours, got back in bed, was resting on my back while thinking of LD memory and methods and visualizing things lightly.

    Account:
I was lying on my back, and had been unsuccessful in falling asleep for a long time. (mostly because I was trying a new method, which involved lots of visualization)

After a period of unconsciousness, I remember regaining my awareness, and then hearing a very loud and peculiar engine sound, like that of an airplane. As I listened to it intently and tried to remember it, I became more awake and I heard the sound fading into the real sounds of the fan and cars outside. I know it wasn't real because of its oddness, its loudness, and its fading away so quickly.

A little disappointed that it ended so quickly, I tried to rest my mind again and fall back asleep. The next thing I remember was hearing the notes of a piano, from pieces that I've heard in real life. I think it was actually one of the songs in my playlist, when I first noticed it. Then the music changed, (I think I was actually controlling it to some extent), but it wasn't getting replayed quite right. It then switched to a third song, which I remember specifically (Spanish Caravan by George Winston). Here, I listened very carefully to the notes, comparing it to what I remembered/the actual notes that I was conceptualizing alongside what I was "hearing". I remember noticing that the notes were somewhat sloppy, and that instead of having frequent ups and down, it sort of smoothed them out, and turned the part I heard into a more uniform downward scale.

What I was hearing then changed to a song with vocals. I remember hearing the vocals in my head, as if from headphones or something, and I realized this would be a good time to try to get these sounds to change into a full-fledged dream. Concentrating all of my mind on the vocals, I heard their intensity rise and fall, and after a few seconds they surged louder and I felt myself being drawn into an actual dream, as the vocals became more real-sounding and it sounded like a person was actually singing to the right of me. Trying to get into it, I wasn't quite able to, and I was disappointed when the noises settled down and it was quiet again.

Getting up, disappointed, I went back onto my computer. Opening up Firefox, I continued reading through the pages I had open. I don't remember exactly what I was reading, but I know that at least one tab involved lucid dreaming, and another involved cooking items such as pots, in a list with pictures. Standing up, and looking ahead at the wall, I suddenly had the idea to do a reality check (I think I may have noticed something fishy). I tried bending my middle finger over my pointer finger, and the moment I did so, I knew I was in a dream, because it felt very strange and it didn't go over completely. Thinking to myself something very much along the lines of, "Oh my goodness, this is still a dream!", I suddenly noticed the absurdities in the scene before me. My bedroom door was stretched out behind the table in front of me, and a second table was stretched out to the right of me.

A little bewildered by the doorway's odd orientation, I switched between looking with my left and right eye, and as I did so, it switched between two orientations, as some kind of overlay on the wall. Not sure if trying to go through it would work, I starting turning to my right, but as I did, I remembered that I should try stabilizing my dream ahead of time, to keep myself from waking up. Remembering that people mentioned it can help to hold one arm with the opposite hand, I moved my left hand and pressed it against my right upper arm. Feeling that my t-shirt was blocking it, I tried putting my hand into the arm of my shirt, but I was struggling because it was sticking to my arm somewhat. I got it in after a few seconds, and I felt as it made my arm cold. I continued turning to the right, but to my dismay, my vision was beginning to fade, and my movement was slowing. Racing to keep myself in it, regardless I wasn't fast enough, and I awoke to the sounds of the fan and the cars. But my fingers still felt as though they overlapped, so I moved them apart, (and did one more reality check), and finally went downstairs and gave up.
