    Lights Please? That'll Do.

    #167 - 4:23AM - WILD?

I have a long cycle of SP to OBE to FA and back again. During each FA I am back in my bed and I remember nose plug. I am surprised that I am still dreaming. During the SP I find transitioning almost impossible but there is a lot of sensory input. I feel like I am spining and then going up and down on a roller-coaster to the point that my stomach feels like its turning upside down. There is tons of vivid imagery. I remember trying to read some huge billboard that appeared to me but it's all in Russian. Once I am in the white void and I become excited but it doesn't last. I remember hearing some rap song and then a rock song. I tried to just enjoy the show. I did lots of hand motions and noisy hand rubbing. Once I felt like my physical body was on the edge of the bed and I scooted over but I think that wasn't real. At one point I kind of want to bail out because I feel stuck in this long cycle but I don't want to wake up completely so I just ride it out.

Finally, I have an OBE long enough to write about. It was very dark and unstable, but a start. When I got out of bed I remember having breathing issues. It felt like total sleep apnea and I had to force my breath to be steady and long. For a second I focused on my physical head and tilted my head back enough that I felt breathing was easier. I didn't lose the dream when I did that and continued on. I wasn't sure if it was real or not but either way it helped.

I was acutely aware of the sound of the box fan but tried not to pay attention to that because I didn't want to wake up. I notice there is light but it is dimly lit like a dimer switch on the lowest setting. I made my way to the bedroom door but it felt wrong. It was extra wide with 5 or 6 brass and steel sliding locks mounted on it and an odd door knob. Luckily the door opened with ease.

It was dark in the next room and before I move in there I try feeling around for a light switch. I see some male DC standing there just in the darkness. I don't become frightened. I asked for help. "Hey can you turn the lights on, sir?" He steps closer and I see that it is my dad in his PJs. "Dad! Will you turn the light on?" He mumbles something and looks to be half asleep. He reaches near the area I was feeling around at and the lights come on but they are just as dim as the bedroom. Dad staggers off in the darkness of the kitchen and I head for the front door. I look around noticing my house is not at all right. It is creepy and dirty with huge cob webs. Parts of the house looks badly in need of repair. Some of the flooring looks to be a hodgepodge of various scarp boards. I try to make it to the front door but as I pass by the dining table a chair sticks to my arm and holds me back. I have to take time to relax and will it way before I could continue.

Finally, I reach the front door and step out only to find that it is totally dark. Instead of going back inside I turn around and float up the exterior of the house keeping its detail in my vision as a way to stabilize. I notice we now have a second floor and I can see my mom in some bedroom through a series of 3 windows in a row. See looks like she is pulling back sheets and getting ready to lay down.

I continue to float up to the roof. As I reach the peek I notice a super bright construction light and the entire back yard is lit up. I am thankful for the light but I focus on it too much. The white surrounds me and I wake up.

You hit a lot of challenges in this one but it turned out to be a really neat LD. I like all of the ways that your house changed and that you had family member DCs just sort of roaming the halls of "your house" with you. The second story might have been interesting to explore, especially since it had a completely new layout but your mom was already living there. Huh, makes me wonder whether you dad had just wandered downstairs...

Nice work getting Dad to help out with the lights and staying calm when the chair glued itself to you!

Thanks. It's always unsettling when a strange DC shows up in my "house".
