      Emecom's Workbook

I am 19 years old, I started lucid dreaming about 3 years ago when I first stumbled upon DV. I have had quite a few ld's but I am bad at writing in a dream journal so I usually only recall them for a day or two. I stopped focusing on it about a year ago because of school, but I have a lot of free time lately (especially in the mornings) so I regained an interest and am dedicated to getting back into the habit. My main technique has been DILD, but I have had a lot of success with DEILD and MILD so I will be focusing on those as well. My goals are to write in my dream journal every morning to increasing my recall, and to focus on increasing my awareness throughout the day. Any input is appreciated

Welcome back to DV and to my workshop!

Yes, DJ is important. Every time you think of your dreams (writing them down is one of those occasions), you are telling your mind, that dreams and remembering them is important to you. DILD is an excellent technique.

Since you already have experience, not gonna send you to beginners guides. But you can check out this Collection of techniques for DILD for a little refreshing course.

You are in luck that you have time in the morning, since morning is a prime time for lucids.

Here is a WBTB or a nap schedule by Steven LaBerge, which promises increased success of having a lucid dream - DILD.

      1. Get up 90 min before your normal waking time
      2. Stay up for 90 min. Try not to wake up too much.
      3. In last 10 min do MILD.
      4. Take a 90 min nap.

I'm using this method for WILD, also with great success. If WILD doesn't happen, there is a good chance for a DILD.

Here is the version I'm using.
      1. Wake up at anytime between 7-9 am.
      2. Stay up for anywhere from 1-4 hours. (shorter the delay, better the success)
      - I get dressed, have coffee, breakfast, check emails...
      3. Then lay down to TV and watch untill sleepy. Put on an eye mask (or just a towel) and WILD.

If you wanna try WILD, here is the best tutorial we have on DV Sageous WILD

The beauty of the techniques is, that they don't clash. They are each used at different times, so since you already have LDing experience, you can practice them together.

So good luck and let me know how it goes. Happy dreams

Thanks for the reply, I wrote in my DJ this morning. I will experement with some WBTB schedules to find which works for me so thanks for the two methods. I have had some success with WILD in the past, but I wasn't aware that I needed to stay up during the WBTB for at least an hour so I thing I will have more success with this new knowledge.

No, no. Classic WBTB at night is anywhere from 1-60 min. Just long enough to allow you to think logically, but still sleepy enough to fall asleep.

The schedule I described is a morning nap. It comes from a sleep study LaBerge conducted. You can certainly experiment with length of time.

Naps, even the afternoon naps, are great for WILDs, because for some reason in a nap you go straight to REM.

Okay I understand what your saying, thanks for clarifying. I had a late night last night and had to wake up early this morning so it wasn't very conductive for lds but I did write in my dream journal again so I am making progress.

I have been keeping up with my dream journal, my sleep schedule has been varying a lot lately so it has sort of messed me up. I had a ld last night though but I was only lucid for a little bit before I got distracted and forgot I was dreaming.

Yeah, short lucids are common. Sorry about that.
