      LucidProdigy's DILD Workbook

Hey there! I'm LucidProdigy, a 19 year-old physics major currently living in North Carolina. I really can't say I'm that new to lucid dreaming. I've been lurking on this forum for a couple of years, and have had my bursts of motivation here and there. In all, I believe I've logged about 50 lucid dreams. This time around, I would like to stay consistently active in my pursuit of a true lucid lifestyle. I've had a bit of experience in all sorts of techniques, but now I'm going to solely focus on DILD(SAT), MILD, SSILD, and Dream Yoga. In all of my lucid dreams, I seems like lack proper control and stability. For example, I've never once successfully changed the dream scene (all my LDs seem to take place in my house), had an intentional conversation while lucid, and oftentimes my dream body is 'tipsy', almost like I'm very drunk in the dream .

Day Time Awareness: SAT (5-6 times daily, although this number will increase with practice)
Recall: 1-2 dreams daily, with average clarity. This NEEDS to be better
Mantras: "I remember all of my dreams" (At night w/ MILD); "The next time I'm dreaming, I see my hands and realize I'm dreaming" (Used with SAT in the day)
Short Term Goals: Remember 3+ dreams per night consistently, successfully change dreams scenes in a lucid, have a meaningful conversation with a DC (preferable Dream Guide), have 3+ LDs/week.
Long Term Goals: Create a persistent realm with dynamic DCs, experience transcendent dreams, become at least adept at dream control

Last night, I woke up after about 4.5 hours of sleep. I tried to recall any dreams, and afterwards did around 4 quick SSILD rotations, and 3 slow ones. It took longer than usual to go back to sleep, but I eventually did. I 'woke up' (in retrospect, I was probably already asleep) and immediately experienced WILD-like vibrations and flashes of light that lasted around 4 seconds. I immediately knew I was in a dream, and sat up in my bed. To my dismay, I had that strong 'drunken feeling' again; to try and alleviate this, I examined my wooden dresser next to my bed in an attempt to ground myself in the dream. After about 15 seconds of feeling the texture of the wood, I tried to phase through my bedroom wall, but failed. I woke up shortly after.

A lot of my lucid dreams follow a sequence similar to above, and I really would like fix this so I can start on my dreaming adventures. Looking forward to this!

Welcome to the DILD workbooks LucidProdigy! Do you often get vibrations or any other sensations *right before* entering a dream (I mostly notice vibrations during WILDs or possibly DEILDs)? If so, I have a technique for you to avoid always getting stuck in your bedroom straight from the onset (teleport/visualize during transition). If not or as a back-up there are still other ways that we can figure out with a little back and forth and I have a few ideas in mind depending on a few things. What are your strengths in regards to lucid dreaming?

Thank you for the warm welcome!

As far as vibrations go, every time I've attempted a WILD or DEILD, I get vibrations 100% of the time before entering the dream. In fact, once I reach the vibrations, it's pretty much a guarantee that a dream follows.
      Strengths:
      -Consistency in Daytime-Awareness exercises
-I seem to get LDs fairly often when I'm serious
-Recall (once I get it back up, in my prime I was recalling 5-6 dreams per night)
      -I'm calm when I realize I'm in a dream
      Weaknesses:
      -Dream Control
      -Stabilization
      -Consistency

As for last night, I knew it wasn't going to be a too successful night, as my gf was staying over. However, I did recall 2-3 dreams (I didn't write them down unfortunately, so I'm only left with impressions of them). Tonight really starts my journey with DILD, and I'll make sure I'm consistent with my Daytime-Awareness techniques today.

The good thing about DILDs is that you can become lucid wherever you are in your normal dreams which I assume are not always in your room.

Perfect, so as soon as the vibrations start you can try visualizing the scene you want to arrive in. Sometimes you will only get something similar to what you imagined. You can also use any other sounds or sensations that you can imagine tying into the scene. I have heard static that sounded like a waterfall and I arrive at a waterfall...spinning sensation that I thought to myself during that moment felt like a roller coaster and there I was...jet engine like sounds that propelled me into the air and so on.

I sometimes use a mantra that I will notice the vibrations before I do the SSILD cycles since it seems to ramp up awareness before falling to sleep and I suspect they are always there upon dream entry if I am only aware enough to notice them. Occasionally I have trouble falling asleep as well but it often leads to an LD so I try not to "worry" about falling asleep (which helps you to get to sleep).

Do you fly? When you end up in your room, instead of phasing through the wall have you tried to walk out the front door? You mentioned dream control difficulties...are there any that you have had some success with that you can build from?

I'm definitely going to start trying this as soon as I notice any vibrations. I attempted this once about 2 weeks ago, in which I tried to visualize a windy field full of bright grass. I think I felt the wind a little bit, and the 'darkness' behind my eyelids began to brighten a little, but when I opened my dream eyes, I was still in my room. I'm also participating in the Dream Yoga class, and one of the lessons teaches advanced visualization to start the dream, so hopefully I'll be proficient in this in a couple of months of consistent effort.

I have flown before several times in my dreams (only around my house however, and I haven't been successful in leaving Earth while flying. It's like I'll reach a certain height, then everything fades to black and I wake up). I've tried walking through the door once...I was in a dream, and I tried setting strong intention that when I walk through my front door, I will be in a totally new location. As I approached my front door through the darkness, the door almost had like a glowing aura surrounding it, and I just knew I was going to be successful. Unfortunately, when I opened the door, I still found my front yard (but I do believe it was snowing). I guess I should also note that in 95% of my LDs, it's dark outside. I've tried to change night to day several times, but without any success.
And as far as success goes...I've flown, down some basic elemental control, and have shouted to my subconscious to 'show me something amazing!' with the result being large galaxies in the night sky. Other than that...not really lol. As you can see, I have a lot to work on.

Currently, I'm tweaking the mantras I'm using. I think I'm going to stick with "When I see my hands, I become skeptical" and "I wake up after every dream." I'm continuing with Daytime-Awareness exercises via the Dream Yoga class, and I believe yesterday I had 7-8 SAT moments. I remember having 5 dreams last night (interesting ones at that), but every time I sat and tried to recall them, I fell asleep in the middle of the process. Tonight, I'll record them in my DJ without fail.

It sounds like you are on the right track. A little introspection and progress will let you know for sure.

Perhaps you can use these previous successes to "get out of your room" and the more successes you have, the more your confidence and abilities grow. Walk out the front door, even if it is your front yard, have your subconscious show you something, then perhaps fly somewhere interesting (you can look at google maps for example to get inspiration). I also have stability/clarity issues with fast flying and flying into space but I 100% believe that this is all in my mind and that it can be improved. In the meantime you can fly slower and lower and also play around again with elemental control.

I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm lucid fogelbise.

No LD last night, nor did I wake up at my usual time (around 3:30 naturally), but I woke up at 6:00 right when I had to get up. The intent setting really worked though; as soon as I woke up, I remember my intention of DJing. Laid still for a couple of minutes, and recalled 5 dreams that were pretty vivid! Additionally, I tried setting intention that my dreams would be at the beach, and it looks like I'm beginning to see so I actually thought they were just one dream with weird transitions, but I guess they were all just separate dreams I had earlier in the night.

Intent is huge but also easy to slack on. Keep up the intent and you will keep up your progress.
