      Very short Lucids

I've finally started to lucid dream more regularly recently (about 1 every week) but every time I do become lucid the dream either ends immediately (happened 2-3 times) or goes into crazy FA chains where I'm constantly 'waking up'. When I get out of bed and attempt to stabilise the dream I'm thrown into another FA. I've not had a dream last longer that a minute and even that's being optimistic.

Sometimes I feel like something's 'wrong' in the dream, like my body can't move properly. Most of the time I'm really tall, like 9 foot. I cant quite see the floor below me because I'm so tall and i feel drunk/dizzy. I also can't always see clearly. A couple of times my eyes have hurt so much and kept closing. I tried to keep them open but i felt like something really heavy was pushing on them and i woke up.

I have read loads of techniques to stabilise and prolong the dream but when I finally get lucid i can't decide which one to do first and end up just losing control and waking up. For example I will try to use all my senses and start with looking at things closely, but then I can't see, or my eyes want to close so I end up waking up.

I know in hind sight that I should have tried focusing on other sensations such as hearing or touch but it's hard to be that logical in my dream...

Does anyone have any tips for how I can get out of this cycle??

Well, I'm not sure, but perhaps you could choose your stabilization techniques in advance, and use a mantra to implant them in your mind ( for example: i will remember to use verbal commands). It's a tough situation though. I hope it works

Well I tried deciding which techs to use in my dreams and... last night I had the first lucid dream where i could actually do anything! It was amazing and I completed loads of my lucid golas and even succeded in changing the dream scape! It was also my second lucid in three days so they're getting more frequent-which means more time to practice stabalising!!

So thanks SpyGuy!! Your advice really helped.

I'm curious which techniques you found worked. I've been having the same problem you described recently, and most things have not worked in stabilizing for me.

      What specifically did you do?

I know what you mean bellatrix yesterday i had a really short lucid when i went to bed after being up in the morning already
i think it might have to do with what stage of rem u are in because i tried so hard to look at my hands and i couldnt look down and trying to look down made my eyes feel like they were opening and then i woke up so i think i mightve just been in a short rem stage because it was during the day when i went to sleep and arent they short all through the day?

I just like to sit down, and listen to whatever is around me, look at everything but keeping a conscious mind about everything you see/hear/smell, trying to notice differences between dream world and normal world, It's pretty awesome and It helps you to make you feel comfortable and make your LD's more stable

The same thing used to happen to me when I first began attaining lucidity!

For me it were things like... Trying to walk but having my feet be unable to move, being attacked and unable to move my arms to throw a punch...

The way I got this stuff to stop, was instead of trying to walk towards the door, try to drift towards it, or use my mind to make it come towards me. If I was being attacked, use my mind to transform them, push them away with my mind, etc... Basically, just finding other ways to accomplish the same end-result. After I made this a habit, I stopped having the problems to begin with at all, but I also feel like it helped me learn how to solve other more subtle dream problems Hope this helps and good luck!
