Any tips for me or things i should try to improve Forced Control?

I have noticed that my attempts to create powers and especially weapons always fail. Like the last time i had a lucid dream i was supposed to kill these white feral wolves, not like in a pack but after one died another would come out of the shadows. So without really imagining it or thinking about it i started shooting at a wolf with what i can only describe as an "energy bow and arrow". If any of you had the pleasure of playing the new Mortal Kombat game and experiencing Night Wolfs character than you would know =]. Well anyways i didnt really think i just acted and started firing these energy arrows at the wolf. The wolf was too quick for me and dodged the shot so when i saw it getting closer i wanted to shoot it some more. But then the bow and arrow failed on me and i immediately thought to electrocute the wolf so i thrusted my arms forward to shock it and i had no power. The wolf was right in front of me and the only idea that came to mind is to throw my arms to my sides, palms up and muscles flexing as if i was to generate energy to conduct electricty. This last attempt actually did work as the wolf was being shocked but i didnt manage to kill it. I tried to generate electricity again but this time i failed. I have many other examples of dreams in which i cannot summon a weapon for protection from something and that usually ruins the dreams. Anyone know of in-dream things i should try maybe a list of powers i could try as a "warm up" or anything?

Expectations play a huge role in dream control, and are the basis for pretty much anything that happens in the dream. Visualization is just as important; if you want to create energy (eg. electricity), know how it will feel to be generating the energy; I'm assuming it would be as if you'd built up lots of static electricity. Visualize a few sparks coming off here and there, and imagine the sound they'll make. Be fully confident that you're in control and that the energy will not fail to manifest. Make up a reason as to why they won't fail - for instance, you're a natural at using said powers, because you've always had them.

Regarding the dogs, if you were being attacked by them, why not say something like "NO! Bad dog." Say it in a scolding, disappointed tone, and point your finger down at the dog. You're their master; after all, it's your dream and you are free to control them as you see fit. They have no right to hurt you. I've applied this exact technique to a shadowy claw that was coming up the side of my bed, probably about to manifest a nightmare, but it went away when I scolded it. I also often apply something similar to DCs. I tend to make up stories and wanting to summon specific characters; if one of these characters doesn't say something I'm expecting it to say, I just tell them "stop fooling around, and do it properly this time".

You don't necessarily need a dream control 'warm-up' each time you become lucid, but practice always helps if you're still getting the hang of control.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Forcing control can destabilize your dream. When going along with you dream, the mind only has to make tweaks as it progresses, which doesn't take much brain power. Forcing big changes takes a lot of thought, and your dreaming brain doesn't have much of that to spare.

Wow, thanks for that Puffin! i had no idea such concentration was required, but i guess that sometimes when i do try to make any kind of weapon or energy, for a split second before i even attempt it i think "what if this doesn't work", so i see why i would have to be fully confident. Its also strange to me how sometimes in the dream i am "given" the power or told i can do it and sometimes i even remember trying the power out or activating it as if it was second nature (like the energy arrows), but in a time of crisis or danger i fail to activate the powers. And i can't believe i never thought to scold the dogs or any other enemies in my dreams =], ill have definitly try and practice this stuff. Thanks.
