Lucid Dreaming is not some Absolute. People lead you to believe that your will have some God-Like Control over your own Subconscious Mind and even over the Superconscious and Collective Minds. As you have found out, you remain just one small piece of a Total Universe.

Those who do achieve a great deal of control do so by effectively separating off from the subconscious, superconscious and collective Minds -- they are 'taking their ball and going home' leaving the game and going off to a personal isolation.

The Mother who was not your Mother -- you have met the Archetypical Goddess/Oracle. You Lucid Dreamers call her the Goddess Glad, but she was not very happy was she. Lucid Dreaming is turning out to not be what you expected, but you can be reassured that you have the best of all Patronesses.
