Failed Teleport

I had a lucid yesterday, and after stabalizing I decided to go for the task of the month (olympic event). I decided to try falling backward while imagining my destination. After I fell, everything went black. I looked for my hands but I couldn't see them. After a few minutes I saw light and part of a dream scene. I went into it and it turned into a false awakening. I did my reality check (which didn't work!), so I lost lucidity. Any help on why my teleport attempt didn't work?

P.S I'm going with a better RC which hopefully wont fail in the fututre. I'm also aware it was probably my fault it didn't work

Things like falling are usually less effective in a dream due to that fact that some people actually get shocked by the experience. Instead try a method like summoning a door which will lead you there or flying up beyond the clouds and then flying back down to where you want?

Thanks for the tips Dutchraptor! I will definitely try the door method next time.
