The basic mood of my dreams

I've recently had my second LD, and just as in the first one I had an experience, I don't quite know how to deal with.

In many of my dreams I experience more or less spooky things, often things I'm trying to flee from. My most occurring dream sign is therefore the feeling that I can't run, and last night it actually did its magic.
So I wake up in the dream, and I instantly know, that the two guys, who are trying to kill me, are just dream figures. This recognition, and the fact that I actually succeeded in having a LD, instantly makes me very happy and excited. The thing is though, that underneath this feeling of happiness, the fear from being chased, just before I got lucid, seems to persist. Not just in the moment but throughout the lucid state. I'm actually very aware of this while I'm dreaming the dream, but still I can't seem to find a way to let go of it. It might sound crazy, and I'm sorry if this does not make sense to anybody but me, but it's like the fear has lost it's object and somehow turned in to a basic mood that now colors the rest of my dream.
If anyone has got an idea, how to deal with this, it would be much appreciated?

First of all, I think turning nightmares into something less scary and maybe even fun and empowering is one of the greatest benefits that I see in Lucid Dreaming. However, it will not work right away: since you are used to being scared and expect to be scared of your nightmares, it may take a while to overcome that. Don't worry and be patient and you will get to the state of no fear of dream eventually.

A few things to consider trying to help you overcome this fear: before going to bed remind yourself that dreams are not real, that even if you had a nightmare in your dream it cannot really hurt you. If you become lucid in your dream, try turning the scary event into something fun or ridiculous or empowering or friendly: try talking to the bad guys in a friendly way, imagine them wearing tutus and ridiculously high heals, think of how much more powerful you are than them. If you do not succeed, and you end still afraid of your nightmare, after you awaken, use your imagination and daydream a better or funny outcome for this dream, and make yourself laugh. I hope some of these techniques help you.

      Thanks for your reply

I will try some of the "boggart-tricks" next time . The thing is though, that as soon I wake up inside the dream I don't actually feel scared of whatever made med scared in the first place. I know it's a dream, and that seems to be enough to get rid of the object I'm scared of. The feeling of being scared however stays with me for the rest of the dream, just in a different form. Sort of like when you are in bad mood, and you just can't seem to get out of it.

Ah, well in that case: have you seen the movie "Sound of Music"? There is this song there "... I always remember my favorite things, and then I don't feel so bad." Try that: try to cheer yourself up with some of your favorite things. Just think of them. Since this is a lucid dream, they may or may not appear, but even if they don't, even the thought of them might cheer you up.

First of all congrats on your LD's that is the first part in a life time of getting really good.

Now, to help you. You are afraid of a object (you don't mention what it is?). I would just go for what I learned to do at first. Become something or someone in your dream that can't be harmed by anything (especially the object). Learn a good defense before you move onto offense in your dream. If someone can't hurt you by shooting, stabbing or anything. You can just stand there and laugh as they try. So the object is meaningless. Turn your dream into something fun instead into something that is scary.
