Not a challenge, just an idea

I'm currently reading "Long Earth" by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter.
This book is really amazing (no spoilers please, I'm about 75 % through it atm).
For those who don't know it's about alternative realities being discovered. None of those realities seem to have humankind in them, they do however have all other kind of life forms, they are what Earth might have become if humans did not evolved.
You travel between worlds with the use of a device called a "Stepper".

I just have this idea to try it in my next LD. Make my own stepper and step to the Long Earth.
Should be easy to do if the dream is stable enough.
What do you guys think about this? Any of you tried this or other method to reach alternative realities?

Haven't read that book, but sounds like an interesting idea. Good luck with it!

As for myself, haven't had much luck with teleportation or similar yet, though mainly because haven't focused on it much, but hopefully i'll find something that works soon!

I thought about it too, after watching tv series like Lost, Stargate or Through the Wormhole. It's on my LD to-do list.

At some point the good LDs are like your own CG set. You decide what is in the scene. It would be a case of creating an effect, such as everything vibrating into a blur, then reforming a picture of this long earth. Sounds like a fun goal for you to strive for. Good luck!
