      Repaving over old dreams

An idea I just had, a way to maybe help dream recall, lucidity, and control:

After you have a non-lucid dream or a nightmare, daydream the non-lucid, but imagine yourself becoming lucid, doing a reality check in the "repaved" daydream. I am going to try this and tell you my results.

I actually had a thought similar to this a while ago.

      Do tell if it works.

This sounds very interesting. Looking forward to hearing about your results (although it seems plausible that these could take a while to materialise).

Maybe it could be generalised into this practice:

Relive your non-lucid dreams, identifying all those things that should have triggered lucidity but did not, and meditate intensely over these failures in order to learn from them.

So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

Excellent plan, WakingNomad; I think you'll find it very useful.

Aside from being useful in the context Voldmer suggested, you also might try doing this immediately upon waking. I've found that doing so leads to a DEILD-like experience where you get to go back to your dream, only lucid this time, even though you might not actually fall back to sleep. I do this often to "finish up" cool non-lucids from which I awoke too soon, or maybe add stuff that I think, upon waking, should've been there in the first place (repaving, perhaps?). This action should still help your recall and future lucidity, plus as well.

You likely are already doing this, but I thought it worth mentioning...
