Question Has anyone else had a dream control dry spell?

I have run into a weird variation of the dreaded dry spell. I get lucid fairly easily (DILD at the moment), but then I don't do anything with it. I can stabilize if necessary, and I even remember goals, but I just... don't do anything.

      Here are two recent examples:

      1) I notice a jump-cut in my dream and say to the people behind me, "... and that means that this is a dream!" I'm lucid at this point. The two people with me look a bit wobbly, and because I like to use DCs to talk to myself, I say, "Take it easy, this is just a lucid dream. Calm down, so we can get started." I then say, "I don't know if I'll need the two of you, but just tag along, and we'll see." Then I look around and see the building I want to go to... but just start wandering around, soon losing lucidity.

      2) Something tips me off, and I become lucid. I remember that I have a problem with keeping my focus, so I say to myself, "Right. I have a goal. I'm going to find an easter egg." The dream isn't unstable at all, but for some reason I drop down on the floor and lick it until I lose lucidity.

Just adding, in case you didn't know, that the floor-licking is a bizarre but pretty brilliant stabilization technique that Nfri came up with. But the point is that the dream wasn't unstable at all. I knew what I wanted to do, but then felt compelled to do something - in this context - completely pointless.

For some reason I'm currently having trouble hanging on to high lucidity for very long. I really wanted to find that easter egg too. I love participating in TOTM, so it wasn't lack of motivation. I had thought about it a lot while awake.

Any ideas for how to get back my focus so I can have fun in my LDs?

Maybe planning out the dream before going to sleep? That way, you'll know what to do even before you fall asleep.

As with all dry spells, though, they eventually fade. You'll get back to normal lucid dreaming in no time.
