Send Messages to Other Dreamers While Asleep! "Lucid Messaging Service"

I have something I'd love to share with you which I think you will find fascinating. You may have discovered some of this already, but if you read through to the end I have some insider information that you haven't seen yet!

A few months ago I purchased a Neurosky Thinkgear EEG with the intention of studying brain computer interfaces. Before delving into the OpenEEG software development kit I decided to see if there were any apps that might be useful.

Much to my satisfaction I discovered an app entitled "Lucid Scribe" in their store, yet the site was not selling it. Although when I visited it's creators site (www.lucidcode.com) I was happy to find that it was free and open source!

After downloading the main program ("Lucid Scribe") and the Thinkgear EEG plugin I fiddled with it for awhile, learning some of the functions to see what it could do. First of all it has the ability to detect the onset of REM sleep through bursts of muscle movements recorded by the EEG. It is set up to play an audio track once REM begins, which can either be used as an alarm for WBTB, or as an in-dream trigger to become lucid. Another option called "TCMP" translates certain eye movements as Morse code(gentle movements are dots and stronger ones are dashes). With this the user can record messages to their awake self and even make a dream journal without waking up!

If you think this is far-fetched, consider that one of Stephen LaBerge's early experiments involved instructing a lucid dreamer to preform agreed upon eye movements when they became lucid, and while observed during REM in a laboratory they did exactly that! Thus eye movements in a lucid dream correlate to physical eye movements

Reference: (Psychophysiology of Lucid Dreaming) Paragraph 5

      NOW HERE'S THE TWIST!

I wondered, why not have the Morse code trigger an audio playback of the dot's and dashes, and then with a simple headphone splitter two dreamers could send messages between dreams.

I messaged my idea to the programs creator, and by the next day got an amazing response. He wanted to add the messaging feature, and even better it could have a text-speech ability so the listener would not have to decode Morse code. But most awesome of all he plans to implement a sort of text messaging ability so users can connect to each other through the internet (I'm imagining wiggling my eyes to type out a sort of phone number while asleep).

Let me know what you think of these developments, would you want to test a "Lucid Messaging Service"?

      NOTE: I've opted to post this in the "Dream Control" forum instead of the "Beyond Dreaming" forum for the following reasons;
-It requires a great deal of dream control to use the technology

-It is not controversial or supernatural, and even if it is considered to be, one can preform the experiment under laboratory conditions (if it works there is definitive proof).

      Please! Someone

      Teach us Mores Code.

I'd be willing to learn LD to DO something like this.

I will contact the hospital sleep lab in Adelaide to ask if they have heard of this and if the Professor is interested or can put me in contact with someone here in Adelaide who is interested.

It is 6:30pm Saturday here. I will contact the Flinders Hospital on Monday.

      This is really exciting!
I've been experimenting with brainwave entrainment a lot lately, so I've been thinking about getting some biofeedback devices.
I would be super keen to test this out!

I'm about to leave for work soon but I noticed there was a sudden spur of interest in this thread, so here goes : D

BatteryCharged : Awesome link but a little off topic, though it did get me interested in transcranial stimulation devices. Apparently the owner of lucidcode (I think his name on DV is "IAmCoder") is working on implimenting a function into lucid scribe that lets us activate TACs devices with detected eye movements! When you consider such applications as this journal "Induction of self awareness in dreams through frontal low current stimulation of gamma activity : Nature Neuroscience : Nature Publishing Group" we could possibly use the EEG to detect REM and then have that trigger a 40 hz oscillation in the TACs, theoretically stimulating a lucid dream 77% of the time.

Zelzahim : It is for me too! I'm excited to see these sorts of technologies begin to make their way into existance. Personally I am waiting for such things as minds eye cameras and neurally integrated virtual reality. But such dreams only make me more excited about these step by step progresses toward such things!

Havago: I found this linked to from the website, an international morse code chart:

let me know how the dialogue with the sleep lab turns out!

~ Dreamer ~ : There are a few different devices that can be used with lucid scribe, the one I am using is the Thinkgear Mindwave (possibly the most inexpensive consumer EEG on the market, except maybe the DIY OpenEEG) If you want to check out some of the devices his software can use take a look at the menus to the right of lucidcode | Hacking human consciousness in search of peak performance.

I tried morse code in a dream once.

This is a great step toward shared dreams. First you would be to use the app to communicate with other people while you are all dreaming. You could potentially use it to find each other in the dreamscape then forget about the app and interact directly in a shared dream.
Imagine a place where everything that can happen, does happen; where past, present, and future are all together; a kaleidoscope of worlds – form without substance, ripples upon ripples upon waves upon waves of pure experience – limitless worlds of possibility, existing beyond time ... This is the world ... we visit each night in our dreams.

      OK Finnegan

Let me think out loud a bit.

"Send Messages to other people while asleep"

By waking up in a dream and rolling your dream eyes to the left and right, slowly and quickly in Morse Code. And the physical eyes will copy.

While hooked-up to a device that can register my eye movements and decode the eye movements into Morse Code.

Then send the Morse Code message to a participant online.

      Did I get that right

Another option called "TCMP" translates certain eye movements as Morse code (gentle movements are dots and stronger ones are dashes). With this the user can record messages to their awake self and even make a*dream journalwithout waking up!
I guess I would need to practice doing the eye movements a lot while awake to program the device to get it right. Or for me to get the eye movements right before attempting to do it in lucid rem sleep.

I woke up this morning and started rolling my eyes, slowly, left and right. Then realised I needed to open them a bit to make sure I was, really doing it, and not just imagining it.

I began by taking four heatbeats to roll to them, slowly, to the right then hold them there for three heartbeats then, slowly, roll them to the left over four heartbeats and hold them there for three.

I suspect I'd need to do that several times a day for a while to practice the "dashes" (-). Then practice the quick movement for the "dots" (▪).

Later I need to practice whole letters. This might take some time. Thank you for posting the Morse code letters, Finnegan.

      Finnegan

      or anyone who might know

How do I do a gentle eye movement so the device reads a "dot" (●) etc.

"TCMP" translates certain eye movements as Morse code (gentle movements are dots and stronger ones are dashes)
Am a gunna start a new remote viewing Dream game soon to help me learn Morse code (hahaha). I will put an object in a box begining with the letter Aa.

      Then

during the day and before sleep I will practice the eye movements for the letter Aa while thinking about the object. There are 26 letters so that's 26 weeks.

There is an Aa Object in the box now. But I need to open a thread so I won't be officially opening the dream remote viewing game up till I start a thread.

      I like dream games.

And this one will get me practicing eye movements.

      E e (●)
      Tt (-)
      Ii (●●)
      Mm (--)
      Ss (●●●)
      Oo (---)
      Hh (●●●●)
      Nn (-●)
      Aa (●-)

      The object starts with "A"

Finnegan, how do I move my eyes for "A" exactly (?)
