I think I might be in for one hell of a ride

Well, I had my first lucid dream a few days ago and I posted about it on the experience forums

Anyways, In this dream I did what I had feared the most about lucid dreaming at that time, falling. I did it straight away and I didnt feel real good but Im happy I did it and got it out of the way.

Now I face a new fear, and this is something I really really dont want to try out when I lucid dream but I fear I might call it upon myself even if I dont want it. I hate spiders, I really really dont like them, even the little ones.

I've got a very crazy imagination, a rather childish one even, and I have this image in my head now of this 3m long spider (about as long as a ordinary car). It dosent have any hairs on it, but rather a shell with almost shellarmored leggs and big big fangs.

Ok this is something I dont want to see, touch or even fight when I lucid dream the next time. I actually think I might even have a heartattack or somthing cause its just like touching it in real life.
      ---

Now for my question, what can I do to prevent this ?

I know some of you close your eyes and wish for things to go away. I dont know if that will work, I will try. But are there more ways to prevent or if they emerge in your dream, get them to go away ?

Sure, that's possible. I think the important thing is to face your fear -- once you know that you are dreaming, then you know nothing can hurt you, and you should be able to vanquish the spider(s) in any number of creative ways. Once you have done this, they shouldn't haunt your dreams any more, and hopefully your real-life fear of spiders will ease some also.

If your even lucky to get enough control in your dream to imagine such things your fear of spiders is mild compared to what i might conjure. I have alot of fear of many things and its usually stuff like trapped in small spaces or paranormal even though i dont beleive in such things.

My best advice to you is to pick up somethingon the ground and give it to the spider and give it a gift and say now were friends and you wont hurt me and ask it to turn to soemthing else.

Great, just mentally brainstorm of all the ways you can create a scenario conducive to draining the tension between you and spiders, and pick the first one that comes to mind.

And you know the best part? That's more than likely what a spider would do in your waking life. Even a tarantula would most often slink away from you if you were to get close enough to touch it lightly. Use that dream experience to realize you shouldn't be as afraid of spiders as you are. 8)

Exactly! I had thought about this before. I thought, if it would work out fine I could use it to get over the fear. And not only that, I could get over other fears- like heights

I hate tarantulae that sit in the really fine, cotton-like webs and just sit there, supsended in it. And the tarantulas that are really big.

The worst part about spiders in MY dream, is when they sit there with about three of their legs up and are motionless. I know that's the kill stance for them, and when they don't move, it makes it worse, 'cause you never know when they'll strike, you know?

Generally, I just turn spiders into gumdrops.

The really big ones look quite ridiculous that way.

Reminds me of a dream where I saw a 10 foot tall demon devour my family, I felt like he was just out of my line of sight for weeks after that.

I HATE spiders. Can't even look at pictures. Thinking about them makes me cringe and I have to switch to another subject. Last time I had a 3 second dream about a spider the size of a dime jumping on me I woke up trembling in a cold sweat and couldn't go back to sleep. I think I'll stick to dreaming about flying, and leave giant armored killing machine spiders alone.

Tarantula's don't make webs, they hunt on the ground. Maybe that'll ease up your fear a bit

Personally, to me spiders are small game compared to cockroaches *shudder*
