      Having trouble with control

      Hello,
I have been having a few lucid dreams a night as of late, but my problem is changing things in my dream. I am unable to make things change or anything of the like. The closest I have come to any thing of the sort is in one dream before I became fully lucid I was able to change a house in the dream into another house of another dream I just had.

Last night I was trying to get away from these people, but some string got caught on a fence and knotted. I knew I was dreaming so I tried to will the string to come undone, but it would not.

And for another example: In two past dreams after I became lucid; I felt I was going to be getting into some kind of trouble when I left my room, so I tried to produce a sword to fight with if I had to. But as hard as I tried to will it (the sword) into existence in my hand it was not there.

My question is: is it just dream control I need to change things? And if so can you gine me a few pointers that have worked for you int he past? Or do I need to imagination the changes as I am willing them to happen?

      Control

Actually, perception of control might not be anything more than awareness of self. Don't get upset. Be happy for what you do have. Enjoy it. One thing that I will tell you is to purposely daydream and learn to control them. Helps when you actually dream.

i am just starting to learn dream control.

if you believe it, it will happen, if you don't, it won't. it really is that simple.

i find that if i want an object, it helps to look away, and reach for it in a pocket, or in the air out of sight, and when you feel something in your hand, look at it and it will usually be what you wanted.

whereas if you just try to magically materialize it right in front of your eyes you are less likely to believe you are capable of doing that...

any restrictions in a lucid dream are only in your mind...and so only you can learn how to dissolve those restrictions in a lucid...

These sound like quite low level Lucid dreams. If you were fully lucid you wouldn't be running away from anything or expecting any kind of trouble because you would realize that everything around you is in your own mind. This might be the reason you are finding it difficult to create objects. You are not fully lucid and therefore doubthing whether or not the object will really appear (this is just my opinion)
would you be surprised if you managed to make an object appear? or would you just expect it to happen and think nothing of it? If it is the former you may have some trouble.
The trick is to realize that you are sound asleep in bed, everything you see hear or sense is just a dream, there is no need to run away from anything, and feeling you are going to be getting into some kind of trouble will probabably mean you will. Just say to yourself 'I'm not going to get into any trouble the idea is absurd everything around me is of my own creation'

In answer to your original question open up a drawer where you keep your dream sword and take it out. the trick is to expect it to be there if you have any doubts at all it probably wont be... although it might be interesting to see what is
      Hope this helps.
      Are you dreaming or awake?

This sounds really good and I think it may be right. I know right now I am just having low level lucid dreams, but I think my mind is holding me back because I am trying to do something that is not normal and would somewhat suprise me. I will have to try these techniques, and see what I can come up with.

If you have no control that doesnt mean that you are having a low level lucid dream... I've had very high awareness LDs where i had little or no control.

Your problems may stem from the inexperience or lack of belief... And conjuring something as simple as a sword may also prove difficult - I remember the first sword that I conjured, it constantly morphed and I attempted to compensate for that by making the blade longer or wider, but it still wasnt stable... in the end the sword turned into a cone of icecream.

But to conjure things you got to have 3 things in mind: Will for the item to appear, an Image of the item and confidence in your abilities.. If one component is lacking, it will be much harder to make items appear, and it may be pretty hard to focus on all 3 things..

There's another interesting phenomenon that is often manifest in my LDs - I have trouble producing weapons " just because" - if I'm attacked, it is extremely easy to manifest anything, even a gun in my hand stretched before me, but if I try to do the same thing with no danger, I'll most likely fail...

      Weapons

Just like Ev, I can't really create weapons unless I am in "danger." I think it has something to do with my hate of weapons, but knowledge that they do have a purpose. Besides, when I was "fighting" I would not use conventional style weapons anyways. Like I mentioned in my posts before, I use DreamFire or DreamLight. I also morph into something that makes me safe from the danger, like a giant (used very often) or animal or a cloud of mist. Whatever.
