Some Reality Checks.

If you don't know what a reality check is, it's a check to show if your awake or in a dream. By doing these you can get full control of the dream because you know you're in it. This lets you fly, spawn people and dive without breathing apparatus. Have fun! Ok here is some reality checks i like to do. ----------------------------------------- Hold your breathe and see if you can breathe. If you can, you're in a dream. Go around the outline of your hand. Does it look strange? If it does, you're probably dreaming. Try pushing your index finger through the palm of your hand. I don't think i need to explain that one... Try to whistle. In most dreams you cannot whistle. Strange The one which works with me but i'm not sure about everyone else. Ask yourself if you are in a dream and if you are, some weird things happen after you ask it. Look at letters quickly so you can't memorise what it truely says but you see what letters are there. Look back and see if any letters are changed around. Look at a clock, turn away then look back again. Has it changed dramatically? (e.g. 3:50 - 2:10) Ask yourself if you know where you are. In most dreams, you're in a unknown place. Itch yourself, does it leave a normal mark? If it leaves some crazy big orange and purple lines, the chances are... you're in a dream. Hope you like them!

i sencerely dont understand..why you are so sure about that rc definition...Its completely not accurate.. Because of this, you start creating more reality checks ( because it doesnt work, for some works..for some doesnt )..more and more... you posted here 9 rc... another will create 50... 1 thats i dont understand... why so many many rc..?

A good one to perform in public is to try and bend your index finger towards the back of the wrist. Unless you are double jointed, it shouldn't go much farther past 90 degrees (and if you are double jointed, it's still not going to go all the way back!). Thanks to Dodobird for that one.

Just to expand briefly on that "Do you know where you are one" One that I've found never fails is to ask yourself how you got to where you are. A lot of my dreams take place in familiar places, but it's pretty rare for me to have actually travelled there. Once you realize that you've simply appeared, you tend to connect the dots.

Same here. Another good rc is lookingina mirror... i try not to in dreams but i happened to walk past one and my head was like a lava lamp (dream mirrors freak me out) It'shard to look normal in dream mirrors. ~Lucas

I use the finger through the hand one. I think I should use that one. I use the one where you read the text, look away and look back. It gets annoying sometimes because I do it more than I need to ( I do it like five times or more).

Finger through hand was the first one I ever did. I hardly knew what a reality check was, but knew that I should do one. I was amazed when it worked.

With the holding breath thing, I really recommend that you hold your nose and mouth closed when you do it, and try to breathe normally. If you still manage to breathe (eg feel the air escape) then obviously you're dreaming. I like that one, the memory of what I ate last, and the finger one is good too. I also tend to count my fingers as well.
