      Controlling dreams to...

      I have a question...
Is it possible to control a dream so that you can make certain people appear?

And if so, does the subconscious have to know what these people look like before hand, or can it make something up from scratch from the way you picture it in your mind?

And is it possible to force yourself to have reoccurring dreams?

Um, from what I've heard it is possible to, although it may not work all the time as dreams can be rather stubborn to manipulate sometimes.

And if so, does the subconscious have to know what these people look like before hand, or can it make something up from scratch from the way you picture it in your mind?
If you wish to summon someone they would PROBABLY look like what you assume they look like but sometimes they may appear different as your subconscious can ignore you sometimes.

And is it possible to force yourself to have reoccurring dreams?

Maybe, I think the easiest way to force yourself into having a certain dream reoccur is probably using dream incubation or whenever you become lucid you could try and change the dream into that dream but I don't think that would be defined as reoccurring.

Any who, I hope I helped in my own newbie way..

      Shrimpster!

In short, it is possible to make people you've never met or seen appear in your dreams. Usually this takes some time to build up the skill, but sometimes dreamers get lucky on their first try.

It is also possible to cause recurring dreams. Using dream incubation as Shrimpster suggested is one way. Another way is to use MILD (which is dream incubation with a tutorial, basically). Or you could use DEILD. I often "make" myself return to a recent dream using one (or more) of these techniques.

However, causing a dream to happen again and again over a series of nights usually takes a little more work and skill than making it recur on the same night it first happened.

I'm not a very experienced Lucid Dreamer however, I did once make my cat appear in a lucid dream. I just imagined that when I went into my bedroom she would be there and sure enough she strolled out past me. Hope that's of some help.

      Hey there,

I've tried for some time to control LDs for some time now and I have some theories about it. In my experience it doesn't usually work trying to make something apear out of nothing. I call this "Forcing" things to apear. Usually when I try this I lose the control of the dream or diferent things than what I wanted start to apear everywhere.

What I've found out to work for me is "looking for what I want to find". I don't try to force the laws of "nature" by trying to make it appear right where I want, instead I look everywhere for the object/person/whatever I wanted to have in my dream. I usually find it behind a door, or just by turning back, sometimes it's more difficult to find.

      I hope this helps.

I've created a dragon and a forest sprite, among others. You can be as creative as you want. Summoning comes easier as time passes (I have less failures now). Practice makes perfect!

Ive been able to make people appear and disappear. I simple attempt to close my eyes in the dream and picture them infront of me talking or some kinda motion, like a thumbs up or something. When i simple pictured them they would seem to appear anywhere.

Slayer, you just want to see Lucy in an LD...I know you...

Anyway, yeah it's possible. I did it in a recent LD. All I had to do is call out the names of certain Anime characters and family members I wanted to talk to, and they came.

As for the reoccurring dreams, that's one of the next things I want to do in my next LD.

Actually, I saw Lucy along time ago in one of my dreams. She was walking up and down some stairs...I walked up to her and she just starred at me. I wasn't lucid so I didn't get to talk to her

      Totally.

      Practice, practice , practice.

I can summon anyone I want, in most of my LD's. I fail, every now and then, but most of the time, I can ake anyone I want appear.

The problem with practicing is that you only get certain chances to practice. Which can make it even harder.

I'm wanting to try and spawn people I think up and then try having reoccuring dreams (dream incubation?).

Yeah, it is a bit hard.
I've been LD'ing since I was about 10, about 20+ some years, and only since the last year have I been really able to control my dreams, summon people, and do pretty much what I want. I've been really practicing" since January 2008, and I have become pretty good at summoning people. I'll tell myself that when I turn the corner, I will see "June", or when I fly up to the tree "Sam will be there" or when I walk into the hotel room "Corey will say hi to me".
It took time, but it eventually got a bit easier for me to summon people.

You just have to remember to do it every time you become lucid.

I think my dream control is somewhat good, I have no problem flying or making things explode.

But I do have a problem calling out my dream guide. Everytime I've become lucid I would start to fly and get into the dream then I would remember to call out my DG and everytime I tried, my DG wouldn't show up then a couple of minutes later I would wake up.

It is moderately advanced, but with practice and effort, yes.
And if so, does the subconscious have to know what these people look like before hand, or can it make something up from scratch from the way you picture it in your mind?
The more detail you you think about when summoning the person, the more detailed (or specific) they will be. However, there is a bit of a knack to this as too much detail can cause you to wake up from thinking to hard.
And is it possible to force yourself to have reoccurring dreams?
Absolutely. There are some great tutorials on this very forum for that kind of thing.

I know now that dream reoccurence is possible.

But is it possible to undo it? I mean, if I mess up on something in a dream and accidently make it so that my dreams reoccure I would like to be able to undo.

Well, the well known method of stopping a reoccuring dream is to 'solve' the situation.
