      Do Names Have Power

Hey there! I dont know if this topic has been adressed yet but this question has really been buggin me recently.

Do you think that giveing our dream control abilties a true specfic Name would make it esaier to control our dreams in general (sort of like Partial Control in BillyBob's thread) or not?

For example, say I'm having a vivd lucid dream and I feel like opening a portal to whereever. Now instead of just, how do you say Will a portal to open, I give that Will an actul name like, like I'm focusing my inner Lucid Power to open a portal.

I'd love to hear any thoughts or opinions you may have on the subject.

P.S. Sory if any of my responses to your replies may be sloppy, still kinday of a newbie here.

Not sure about names, but I did start a thread in "Lucid Experiences" where I said saying "please" got me much more success in requests. Like "More control, please" got me more control easily.

Thx for the input. Maybe something as simple as asking for more control may actul work.

Well, I have lots of power, named most of them, but never use the names to use them lol Only on those big boring explanations when someone I'm fighting want to know... or when a DC friend ask.

Sounds interesting. Kinda like the ancient language in the Inheritence Cycle where you can control things with words? That method could be helpful if you can't get something to work.

If you can't find the right word, I would just ask a DC, whatever he says should work. I think I'll try this method.

If you try to do it yourself you end up with crappy effects. Let the part of your mind that you aren't actively controlling create what you're looking for.

I'm curious as to what kind of portal it is that you want to be opening up?

Wow. thx for all the comments eveyone

      Walms:

Wow. you make a point, though I'd like to give the whole scope of dreams powers all a single name,
so I think it would make it simpler to control all them together, but thats just my opinion.

      Mr. Pig:

You know that is sorta alike the anceint language . I think giveing a Name to your collective dream powers would make it more personal to the dreamer and thereby making it littel esaier to control those many powers. How you use that Name is up to you.

As for asking for DC help It really comes downs to if your DC's are helpful or not. Me personal It's kinday half and half, sometimes there're helpful sometimes their jerks.

      Sandform:

Thanks for the advice I guess you have a point. Though I think, how strong your active imagination is can also have a big effect to.

      Dreamingfox:

I think I'll leave that to your own imagination.

Not necessarily. Although it would be easier to just let your mind do it, you can manually do it with enough practice.

Let's start by agreeing that there is a high probability that dreams are more than "just dreams", as most other cultures around the world believe (Western man is so backwards in these areas). Assuming this to be correct, we also agree that our spirit often leaves our body at night, traveling to dreamtime realms (again, a nearly worldwide belief).

With this in mind, opening up portals anywhere, whether in the dreamtime or whether in consensual reality, is a dubious undertaking. There are inherent dangers in such an activity. For example, if you are trying to open a portal into another location or dimension, it is possible that you can encounter something dangerous, cause part of your energy to be trapped somewhere, open a "door" that you can't close, or open a portal to a location that is not your intent - remember, things don't always go the way you expect them to in the dreamtime.

With this said, I'm not trying to frighten anybody or prevent anyone from enjoying their dreams, but I *am* trying to encourage everyone to use caution in what activities that are performed in the dreamtime.

That seems a lot like the named subconsciousness technique - ever heard of that? Putting it simply you just name your subconsciousness and before going to sleep ask it to help you lucid dream. Like ask your subconsciousness to remind you what you want to remember in a dream. eg.: to reality check and I think that way you can order your subconsciousness around in a dream as well...
