      Eye Problems

Whenever I'm in a dream, I seem to blurred vision. Normally in real life, I would rub them and they see fine. But in the dream, if I close my eyes, I wake up! This happens all the time. I see people talk about moving in the dreams by closing your eyes and picturing where you want to go. When you open your eyes, you're suddenly there. That seems like the most efficient way to move around. Given my problem of closing eyes = waking up, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix it. Or if anyone else expirences this, let me know that I'm not alone.

I haven't closed my eyes in an LD yet, but if I did, I would just try to imagine a new scene around me instead of trying to open my eyes again.

      Hello,
I have the same problem with closing my eyes in dreams. Every time I do close them I start to wake up or I do wake up. I also have heard of people talking about closing their eyes to travel in dreams. I have never been able to do this.

For me when I try really hard to travel somewhere I use doors. I stand in front of a door and try to clearly think and picture (without closing my eyes) where I want the door to open too. I have heard of people flying to where they wanted to go. What you do is fly up into the clouds and then fly back down again; however I am unsure how well this works as I ahve never tired it before.

Another thing I have tried is to get into a car and ask the person driving to take me to the place I want to go. This has workd both times I have tried it.

I hope this helps a bit.

I've had similar experiences but i never close my eyes, I just keep removing imaginary glasses (I never wear glasses) and then I see clear, thing is my vision keep getting blured after a while and I have to remove the glasses again ... yeah wierd. But maybe u could use my problem as a creative solution, instead of closing your eyes imagine u have glasses on and simply remove them. I have no idea if this will work, but who know, it might be a creative solution.

I had an issue once when LDing, my left open was open but somehow my right eye was shut. I was seeing the dream through one eye only while the other side was completely black. It was like a diagonal vision between both eyes, I tried opening up the other eye but was afraid I was going to wake up but I actually only opened up my dream eye and continued on with the dream.

I guess we all have some type of eye issues from time to time. I get the blurred vision also, I guess you just need to stop and focus on something instead of looking at everything at once.

Well, if you are afraid of getting wake by closing and opening your eyes the risk of it happening multiple by many.

In my first LD I closed my eyes with no worries, I opened them and was in another place.

Just an idea: Next time your LD, create an object with in mind, that this object is the "mental block" that makes you awake. Think of the thougts and worries flowing into the object.

When you are ready take a big hammer or something similar and smash it to pieces.

      Now your problem is solved!

Haven't tried it before, but if you really believe in it, it should work.

Whenever my vision gets blurry, I just put my hand out in front of me and wipe it back and forth. It works just like wiping the fog off the bathroom mirror after taking a shower. Works every time.

i ALWAYS have trouble with blurred vision in dreams, only very rarely can i muster the power to make my vision crisp & realistic or even crisper than normal. i basically have to focus incredibly hard which is exhausting at times.

For me LD's are blurry depending on how lucid you are. Like when I'm really lucid, my senses all crank up to normal. I hate it when you lose your senses (especially sight)... Well anyways, for in LD's my vision is usually clear (however i don't LD much) but several times I was having LD's and my vision got blurry.

However, during one of my LD's I got blurry vision, and (this may sound kinda cheesy but it works) I yelled, "Increase Lucidity!"... (the 1st time didn't work)... so then I tried again, "INCREASE LUCIDITY A THOUSAND TIMES!!" .. (This time it worked, the color, and contrast and everything improved)

If you are wondering, I found this technique on some other topic, and during my LD I tried it out.

      I hope this helps

Pretty much all these solutions are the same thing. Intent. Find something that you can relate to if you need a kinesthetic fix, or simply ask/tell yourself what you want, either out loud, or in your inner dialogue. Intent and knowing that it's your world will be the key to this lock.

Yeah, this is a great temporary solution and one I would suggest going with. However the root problem is still the same... lack off vividness to your dreams and low visual stability.

My geuss would be that places that you are more familiar with might have less blurriness. (Example, your house.) However, even that won't help if the dream just isn't vivid!

If you feel this again, after trying one of the intent focused temporary solutions, try to clear up the dream. (If you've been using alot of forced control, via this beaut by the late Billybob, http://dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=38954 , it will be harder to stabalize.) First, try auto-suggestion to the enviroment. "Increase Clarity!" is a favorite of alot of DVers.

Anyway, I like just running my hand over a pole or table, (like Preston in Equilibreum,) and just try and feel the pole or table. Try and analyze what it should stimulate. Not only may this clear your vision, you may notice the 'dreamy' quality of your LD to start and slip away.
