When I was only a little kid I imagined I had rocket boots on, and would fly a little like that. It didn't take too long before I associated lucid dreaming with flying.

Now flying in a lucid dream is not only natural for me, it's accepted by my mind as the absolutely correct way to travel when dreaming. It's like walking really. You don't need to think about how to walk, you just walk. I don't think about how I fly, I just fly.

I think some people think it's too hard to fly. It's really not. Just try to think of flying as nothing more than a mode of travel; like something you do everyday. As we all know, it's all in your head, and in a lucid dream the more you think you can't, the harder it is.

I flew for the first time last night. (My first two lucids in a night xD)
I just took a short run up and flew, was pretty easy but I couldn't control very well and crashed into a fence and woke lol.

I gathered a bunch of friends and amazed them with my levitating abilities. I guess jsut BELIEVE you can. Like the little train that could.

I also just had my first flying lucid dream last night. It is in my dream journal here ;p.

It took me about 4 lucid dreams to learn how to fly.
I am a very logical person, too ;p.

First, I tried to do the run-and-jump type of thing to see if that worked. It didn't.
Secondly, I tried jumping very high and that didn't work either.
Thirdly, I learned the levitation technique (personal, also in my dream journal). I tried experimenting with the levitation technique to see if I could get some results.
Finally, I learned how to modify it enough to start flying. Try experimenting! That will most probably produce the best results.
And I didn't crash into a fence, the settings had no fences to crash into lol xDDD

I think flying has everything to do with confidence and perception... you need to believe you can do it, actually no, you need to know you can. The way you position yourself in the dream setting is mainly irrelevant, the main thing is pushing yourself off the ground and having absolutely no hesitation in the action.

Trust me, it'll come naturally once you get to that stage.

I flew spontaneously before I started having LDs. But I do remember, one of the things that helped to get the sensation, was being in an elevator. I had a lot of dreams of going up in an elevator, trying to find the right floor, and the feeling of rising into the air before flying is the same.

Now, during LDs, one of the ways I check if I'm dreaming, is seeing if I can fly lol. If I'm able to fly, then I figure that no matter how real it feels, it's probably a dream.

Try getting into an elevator, and pressing the button on the top floor, and then when you feel that feeling of assending, see if you can keep it going - or remember it for when you attempt to fly. The feeling of rising up into the air seems to be very powerful for me.

      Hope that helps. xxx

I actually make this whistling sound with my mouth, and it sounds like the wind is blowing me up. Quite the odd method but it has almost always works.

Heh heh heh, LucidDreamGod, I love the quote in your signature:
Dreams are as advice given by a very wise, very drunk old man. A wealth of knowledge behind them, yes, but always, always to be treated with cynicism
      Excellent description. lol.

When I had my second Lucid I just flew up spontaneously (That was because I didn't manage to do anything good in my first LD and after waking up I thought that I should have at least tried to fly or something like that XD).
Though before I became lucid in the dream, I had a power to jump really high. Maybe that sorta prepared me to fly.
when I fly I feel like I'm really light and just start floating. When I'm a bit higher in the air, I stretch out my arms and fly forward superman style XD
Though I land sometimes, but get angry for not being able to control my dreams properly and shoot up into the air again

I did this when I was a little kid... I walked up invisible stairs, laid down, and just took off.

I had regular dreams where I would just lift off the ground and float before too.
      Bollocks.

I said, "Oh my god I'm in a dream, that means I can do anything!" and I leapt into the air and did it. If you're a logical person, use that logic It's fail-proof
