      Question Creating "quality" Dream Characters

Does anybody have any tips about creating "quality" dream characters? The ones I create seem dull and lifeless. I use the technique of "expecting" them to be behind a door, or expecting them to come around the corner. It works well, but they just seem... fake.

I'm very well aware that all dream characters are fake, but there's a difference between the regular DCs and the ones I create. The regular ones that are in the dream already seem very real. Their appearance is very vivid, all details on them are clear, their dialogue is normal, etc. But the ones I create are very "foggy" and unrealistic.

Any suggestions? Is there any way to fix this?

      Hmm...

Well, a few things come to mind. You could experiment.

First, take one of the normal DCs, and split them in two. People, not peices. See if it is still intelligent or not.

If that doesn't work... Move to a new scene. Through a door, through flying, etc... Talk to those DCs. Are they smart?

If they are, you created those while lucid. There are some techniques. Otherwise, just think, your mind made the smarter ones unconsciously, shouldn't it be able to make the same if not better ones while conscious?

Also, if you really need a new DC. Change the appearance of the smart ones.
      Bollocks.

      Try getting worked up emotionally.

DC's respond to your emotions. Since the majority of dreams happen in non REM sleep which are characterized by a low emotional state, the DCs will be correspondingly dull and lifeless.

Things that you intentionally create in a dream by force of will alone will almost always be dull, lifeless, and foggy. there is another way to bring them about, but you sort of have to figure it out yourself.

here's something that might help: try going up to any dream character that you think looks interesting and stare directly into their eyes as if you were staring into the eyes of another real human being with full intelligence and awareness. This may cause something intense to happen....

If your summoning a dream character who is a representitive of a person in real life, then just think of that person in particular- its worked with me a couple of times.

If its a random dream character, make up a personality in your head before summoning them- maybe things will work out better. =3

all my dream characters are like robots. No matter what I do to the dream, they just keep on doing what they were doing and nothing seems strange to them. I sucked the power out of the TV my dad was watching once, and he just kept on watching it.

I really like this advice. I will have to try it. I think I know what you mean, and it may answer a question that has been bugging me for a while!
